“Craters.” Buzz shifted his jaw in thought. “If it weren’t for everything that’s happened in the past few hours, I’d pin this on Zurg, but that can’t be. Somebody must be messing with us, though.”

Mira rubbed her arms, getting a slight chill. "Whoever it was, they're incredible hackers to get by the defense grid. We better check with Commander Nebula and the LGM's. Knowing them they're still around here trying to solve the problem."

“Yeah,” Buzz frowned. He reopened the comm and said, “Commander –”
“We’re workin’ on it,” Commander Nebula said without preamble. “LGMs say it’s looking like sabotage.”
“Who could have done that??”
“I don’t know, but you can bet that we’re going to deal with whoever it was.” The Commander cast a critical eye at his star Ranger. “Go home, son – you can deal with this later.”
Buzz let out an explosive sigh. “Sir –”
--“NOW, Lightyear.”
…And you just didn’t argue with that tone of voice. “Yes, sir.”
--“Good. I’ll see you at 1300, and not a minute sooner, you got that?”
“Yes, sir. Good night, sir.”
--“G’night.”
Buzz sighed again as he closed his comm and turned to Mira, shrugging.

"Well, I can count out getting any paper work done for tonight. I guess I should head for home too." Mira yawned, looking at one of the clocks on the wall.
Yikes! it was almost midnight. When did it get this late without them evening noticing? Well, guess time flies when you're having fun.
If you count this as fun. Mira thought irritably. Right now a hot shower and a warm bed seemed pretty good.
Somewhere in Star Command...
"Commander..." an LGM drawled, holding up a clipboard. "We think we've found something...."
"Interesting..." Another one drawled out, appearing beside the first.

Really?! First the wedding, then Erin, then Buzz, and now, all of Star Command! Warp watched the chaos in Mission Control over Buzz's shoulder. He could tell one of those things that Star Command was not really ready for, had just happened. That irritated him.
At least Buzz is going home now. No one refused Commander when he was in that kind of a mood. Mira was on her way out, and Booster and XR were already gone. The team was unoffically off duty.
((yeah, I don't have much this morning. sry))

((@kj: S'okay, sweetie.))
"Might as well," Buzz agreed. "Uhh, Mira?" He rubbed the back of his neck self-consciously. "Would you mind, uh... driving... me home? It's just... I'm not sure that me doing it myself is such a good idea."
...
"What? What is it?" Commander Nebula demanded, in no mood for LGM theatrics.
...
Erin was left alone for a little bit, again, and it gave her time to think. Just enough time for her to dwell on the fiasco that had made up her wedding. The stress of the past few days finally took its toll on her, and she buried her face into the pillow, crying.

Had the statement been made under different circumstances, Warp would've smiled. With things as they were, Buzz needing to ask for a ride home was not funny.
"I guess I'll you both around 1300 then. Take care, the both of you." Warp bid his farewell and went back to Erin's room.
...Outside Erin's room...
She was crying again. He could hear the muffled sobs as he stopped just outside the door. It hurt him to know she was still in that much pain. He quietly stepped into the room and walked over to the bed. Her wedding gown was still draped over the foot of the bed.
"Erin?" Warp sat on the edge bed, a lone tear making it's way down his face. It had been a while since he'd last cried. It almost felt good.

“You, too, Warp,” Buzz nodded.
…
She raised her head from the pillow and looked at him through tear-blurred eyes. “I’m sorry,” she sobbed. “I’d hoped – I’d hoped… that all this wasn’t going to – going to bother me so much. I’m just – I’m just… tired… and upset…” Her breath began to hitch.

"Erin, you have every reason in the world to be tired and upset. And don't you try to tell me for minute that you've got something to be sorry for." He felt like his voice sounded thick and heavy, and not at all helpful as he gently squeezed her hand.

"Umm...sure. If you don't mind waiting for a minute or so. I need to pick up my things then we can head off."
Then, as an after thought she turned back to Buzz in questioning. "But how are you going to get to work later?"
The two LGM's looked at each other before replying.
"We think we found the perpetrator that hacked into Star Command's main data frame."

“Thanks.”
“I’ll just come back on my jetpack – no biggie.”
“Well?? Who is it?” The Commander folded his arms – honestly, these little green beans…

Mira nodded, head on down toward to locker rooms.
"Ok, if you're sure. I could always pick you up either way."
"They go by the codename: Sharpshooter
"But unfortunitly we cannot get an exact location..."
"Of where the hacker is from. But can say it is on Capital Planet..."
"In a small size district near where Buzz was attacked."

((@cherry: 'Tis some new activity on the Beer board~! <3 ))
“I have no problems with that,” Buzz grinned, following her. “Need to grab something before we leave?”
Commander Nebula sighed and massaged his temples, feeling a tension headache growing. He was starting to need a break as much as his protégé needed one. “All right. Get one of our graveyard shift teams on it, pronto.” …
She shook her head slightly. “Didn’t want – didn’t want to cry.” She leaned forward and clung to him.

Didn't want to cry! What in the world was he supposed to say to that? Erin was clinging to him like he was a life line, and crying.
"There's nothing else you can physically do. You've got to have some outlet for all the stress." Warp pulled her a little closer to him.

Erin shook her head wordlessly. How could she explain that she felt like a child when she cried like this, that she was an adult and she wanted to handle it like an adult?
In the end, all she did was curl up against him and cry herself to sleep.
