Mira didn't know what to say. This was a delicate situation and saying the wrong thing might bring up an argument and maybe an all out fight.
But those two options never got a chance to happen when Mira decided to speak up. All of a sudden Cora was walking down the hall toward them and Mira promptly shut her mouth in the presence of the sixteen year old.
"Morning guys." Cora said. She seemed to be in a cheery mood this morning, all bubbly and happy. The complete opposite of how she normally was.
Deciding against tell her to excuse them for a moment, Mira faked a smile, making it seem that the two of them weren't having an important conversation.
"Morning. Or maybe we already said that earlier, like at 5 a.m.?" Cora smirked sheepishly.
"I see you got here on time. I would have too if I remembered to set my alarm. But I'm here now, so what's up?"
Mira looked at Buzz for a moment before looking back at Cora. "We're going to meet the team in the briefing room real quick. Can you go check if they're there?"
"Umm....sure. Can do." Cora didn't ask any more questions as she obeyed her mother and walked towards the briefing room, like she was told.
"Wow, she's beginning to listen more. I think I'm progressing." She looked over at Buzz and sighed. "Sorry. But maybe we should hold that conversation for later, were we're alone and undisturbed?"

Erin gave Warp a look somewhere along the lines of “You’re-incorrigible-but-you’re-cute,” and said, “Morning, hon.” She leaned out to kiss him back on the cheek, then turned to Liz.
“Liz, since my husband is obviously sleepwalking and can’t introduce himself –” flashed a grin at Warp – “honey, this is Liz Sherman. Liz, this is Warp Darkmatter.”

“Morning, Cora,” Buzz smiled. Then, almost as soon as she had arrived, she was gone, and he turned back to Mira.
“I think I’m progressing.”
“After almost four weeks, I should hope so,” Buzz smirked.
“But maybe we should hold that conversation for later, when we’re alone and undisturbed?”
Buzz nodded. “That’s fine. I need to think some more about it, anyway.” He stretched and yawned, then leaned over to kiss Mira lightly on the cheek. “I’m glad Cora called you here early.”

War. How it tore families and friends apart and brought out the worst in humankind—and probably aliens too. Progress and evolution were bound to take place over the centuries, and just like living beings and technology evolved, so did ideals and circumstances. Priorities and wants changed, trying to keep up with the times, so the concept of warfare would also undoubtedly change. It was a shame that it hadn’t remained buried in the past. Liz was tempted to say it was a part of human nature, but was that even the proper term anymore?
The fact that she was in the future still felt like a dream to her—a dream she would soon wake from, realising in horror how her hopes had been raised only to be cruelly dashed in that one instant. She took another sip of her coffee, its taste still strong though it was getting cold now. This didn’t feel like a dream. Her dreams were usually colourless and murky. This was too real, too tangible, to be a dream. But she felt like a little girl again, just like she always did whenever she was dreaming—or having nightmares.
The illogical situation was still frustrating to her, but hearing about Buzz’s past attempts to reason with the Senate made Liz realise that she had been too harsh on him in her ignorance. Still, she would have liked some logic to Zurg’s methods. She wondered briefly if he had a dose of insanity to him. It might explain more than a few things if that were the case.
“I should still apologise to him,” she decided. “I was too harsh on him.” When was the last time she’d had a good night’s sleep herself anyway? Between Memnan Saa and trying to reorganise the BPRD to deal a final blow to the frog monsters—and perhaps the subterranean people as well, for they seemed to be on cohorts with the frogs—she was crankier than usual and more prone to lash out at people.
She blinked. “He’s getting married?”Well, she hadn’t been expecting that.
She looked down at the picture Erin showed her. The girl—Cora—with her light blue skin and red hair and blue eyes looked like a strange mix between...
“No way!” Liz snorted. “Don’t tell me she’s their future daughter?”
Dang! So far there were—how many?—four time travellers here? What was so popular about this era?
Liz started slightly when the doors slid open, expecting to see Buzz again instead of the blue-skinned man who walked in. She recognised him from the vids, but wasn’t sure how to react to his presence. Did everyone know who she was and why they had brought her here for? Somehow, the thought was embarrassing to her. Just how much did they know about her anyway?
But thankfully, Erin made the introductions for them. “Um, nice to meet you,” Liz said sheepishly. She wondered what he thought about her after what Hellboy had done to him—to them.

“Probably’d be a good idea,” Erin nodded.
“Uh-huh,” Erin grinned, noting Liz’s surprise. “He might not seem like that kind of guy, but, uh…” She laughed and shook her head. “Poor Buzz hasn’t had the greatest luck with his past girlfriends. One of the neat things about Mira is that not only do their personalities fit, but she’s also a Ranger and she shares his passion for their work.”
Erin burst out laughing. “You better believe it!” She calmed down and added, “Apparently, Buzz and Mira in the future sent Cora back in time on a mission, though I don’t know what it is.” Her voice softened. “Actually, I think it was less to send Cora on her first mission and more to protect her. I guess that, back in the future, Team Lightyear was in a tight situation. Buzz and Mira knew their daughter would be safer in this present day.”

“Well, I hope they’ll be happy together,” was all Liz could say. It wasn’t as if she had met Mira to know whether she and Buzz clashed often, but judging by the little she had talked with him and the fact that he had been unlucky with past girlfriends...
“But why couldn’t she have gone to... I dunno, some remote planet or something?” Liz questioned. “Why the past, of all places?” If she wanted to keep someone safe, sending them to the past would have been the last thing on her mind.

“It was an honest-to-goodness time watch, not an all-purpose teleporter like what we used with you,” Erin explained. “Besides, I think that Cora really does need to be here now to do something – they just chose to send her when they did because of their situation.”

The way she said it made it sound as if time watches were common in the future. The mere thought sent a chill down her spine. She didn’t think playing around with time like this was such a good idea. But she supposed they knew better—at least she hoped so.
“So how long has she been here?” Liz asked. “How does she feel being around—y’know—younger versions of her parents?”

Erin noted Liz’s uncertainty and frowned. “Time play still isn’t common, Liz – to any time. Any time you do it, there’s an amount of risk involved. If nothing else, you can mess up the time-space continuum.” She shrugged slightly.
“Umm, about four weeks,” she replied to Liz’s question. “I think that she’s pretty cool with the whole age thing. She’s a good kid. ‘Course… she’s only four years my junior just now… and there’s only a couple more years age-difference between her and Mira at the moment. Kinda funny, really.”

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Liz Sherman." Warp smile warmly as he extended a hand. He had seen the question on Liz's face when Erin introduced them. "I hope you're feeling reasonably well after your trip?" His eyes sparkled mischievously.

Mira smiled, appreciating the kiss. "You guys coming?" Cora yelled back, hallway back from the briefing room before noticing her parents had not moved an inch since she left.
"Everyone's in there waiting for you guys," Cora informed, turning on her heel and walking back the way she came. Mira looked at Buzz a brief moment before she followed Cora down the hall.
"Sweet girl isn't she? Bossing her own parents around. Maybe we should ground her more often in her childhood?"
"I can still hear your guys!"

((Cherry, KJ, heads-up! Ttone created a new RPG site, and it sounds like it'll be fun once she gets it going! universebreach.forumotion.com/index.htm?sid=90d09a0a4cbb2ce076eaf822b363f5f3 I've already registered as Buzz, and it would AWESOME if you guys could register as Mira and Warp, respectively! Hope to see you there!)) “And your point is~?” Buzz countered, laughing as he pushed himself off the wall to follow Cora. “Mira, that just might be what we have to do.” He nodded sagely, blue eyes twinkling.

“And tear apart the very fabric of the universe,” Liz added with a small snort of assent.
“Weird,” was her comment on the subject of Cora. “If I were in her place I’d feel more than a little awkward about the whole thing.”
Liz’s eyes drifted to Warp’s hand. After a moment, she shook it. “Uh, yeah. Just a little woozy—and I did kind of throw up on the floor when I arrived—but other than that just fine.”

((sry for the wait. I had to work this morning.))
"Good." He turned to Erin and said, "I wasn't sleep-walking, I was trying to decide wether or not to comment Ms. Sherman being able to handle that stuff you call coffee."

(I went to the website and tried registering as Mira, but it wouldn't let me, saying that my email belonged to another user and that that character was taken? Very confusing ) "Not funny!" Cora shot back. "Just to let you guys know I'm very behaved in the future!" "Then why are you acting like brat today?" Mira asked playfully. Cora didn't notice and shot back. "Because I have at least a few years before I actually exist. Technically I'm not really your kid in this time period and you really have no authority over me besides adult-like figures." Mira just rolled her eyes. "Well as an adult-like figure, I'm telling you to settle down. You're like an hyperactive child that had one too many candy bars." "Try energy drinks." "Whatever."

((@kj: Np, hon! ((@cherry: Oh. Well, that’s weird. I’ll have to ask Ttone about that – I really want you to be Mira! *bounces up and down hyperly* Maybe… the link was screwy… try this: universebreach.forumotion.com/forum.htm)) Erin chucked her now-empty cup at him and folded her arms, huffing. “First Buzz, now you! What is this, Pick-on-Erin Day?? And FWI, it isn’t as strong as normal.” She uncrossed her arms and pulled out her long hair, beginning to braid it loosely. *** Buzz sighed. “Is the arguing between the two of you what I have to look forward to in the future? And, Cora, I expected something a leetle more watertight. Technically, you’re still our kid in this time period whether you’ve been born yet or not – you’ve still got mine and your mom’s DNA in you.” He strode ahead and reached the team lounge first, sticking his head inside. “H’llo… oh, Warp. Morning.”
