Yes I really do... :3 I think that she may have been a little too sassy for her own good, but she seems honestly nice... and I love her new body, she looks so cute! I'd be cranky too if someone thought just because I was Asian I get straight A's and grade obsessed. (For an Asian, I'm really not... T-T ) So for 42, hearing Buzz get all huffy like that just when she woke up, must've made her especially cranky... She targeted XR and let it all out, but later realizes that he's the only one who could truly understand her... (I kinda cringed when XR got all sarcastic about her feelings... ) About her rejection to XR, i'd think that she'd done right. 42 had no knowledge of the outside world and since XR mostly talks about the outside world, she needed the experience to at least understand his stories and more about his fascination with organics... also, 42 does not seem the type to like being the damsel in distress; she knows that XR is constantly facing danger and if they had gone with his original plan, she'd be left behind and having to wait for his returns... She'd rather be doing something to help somehow, and be independant... as for her wanting to stay in control, the ship was originally her body, anybody would want to be totally in control with their body. So if someone were to make you move against your will, I'd be bitter too... There's still some things about 42 that bug me, but i don't quite necessarily see her as a bad match for XR... given time, I think that they'd still be quite close. and besides, 42 hadn't finished talking to XR when it cut to XR bawling at Cosmo's. She and he could have talked more about her reasons for going slow, and though XR's still reluctant, sees her logic and agrees to wait for the right time... then he could've gone to Cosmo's and complained to his team to vent out the leftover sadness... this could be a possible theory, which means that there's still very much a chance that these two would still be close.. I even wish that there was another episode with 42 in it just to see if it's really over or not... is this making sense or am I alone in this?

I think you make enough sense to beat Bill Gates! I wish, well wished, that the animators would continue the 42 idea. I wanted to see as well if they were really over or not. Guess now it's up to fanfic writers, eh?

Bill Gates? is that good? 8| yep! ( in a way, maybe it's for the better... goodness knows how the writers are going to botch her up had they involved her in more episodes... best to start saving whatever innocence she has left and somehow make her into something likeable, rather than that snooty first impression she gave most of us... )

...I would be way more receptive to a fanfic than another episode... at least a fanfiction wouldn't have her VOICE in it... argh, I hate her voice...

actually, I don't mind her voice at all... she actually sounds like she has a personality rather than without, which makes XR liking her not so onesided at all... I like listening to the lilts in her voice... she'd make a very nice voice for a computer if the computer didn't make her talk in monotone...

I agree that she has SOME personality. But her personality seems to me to be harsh, abrasive, irritating and not a good match for XR. Towards the middle of the episode he seems to be acting a little... henpecked.
XR: B-but honey- he's the CAPTAIN of the SHIP! 42: Let me tell YOU Buster I AM the ship and I don't need a CAPTAIN, these organics have such an ATTITUDE (blahblahblah) XR: ...you like ME, right? 42: Well... you do have your little ways. (<- didn't even say yes)

I have mixed feelings about 42. I mean - I guess I can sort of see her reason for breaking things off with XR; then again, she technically "just came into being" on the ship, and then she just threw herself at him just because she was lonely. If she was really interested, I would've thought she'd have stuck around anyway.
I don't think she's a cruel character - she did try to let XR down easy, after all.
The thing that bothers me is that the writers made such a big deal out of her and XR and then totally wrote her off. It just made the episode seem kinda pointless; like the ending un-did everything that had developed throughout the show. I mean, they didn't even bring 42 back for a later episode. Makes me wonder why they created her.
Hmm, in answer to your question Kila - I think it could have been possible, if the writers had brought her back. If the show wasn't cancelled, maybe they could have developed her character more.

but think about it she considers the ship as her body she knows the ship better than an organic would and anybody would not be too fond of being mishandled, even by the "commanding officer", especially a girl true, she can act a bit childish, but that's more on lack of experience, methinks... and you can't assume that she's going to flat out say yes, I mean, she has her pride and all... 42's the kinda gal who hates to admit a weakness, and admitting that she likes this goofy little robot would definitely count as a weakness... like XR, she seems as if she's a bit insecure with her feelings; how she lashes out against confinement and being used as a tool, her somewhat childish pride, and the fact that she gets lonely and clings to others...

True, her clingyness does remind me of XR... o.o but think about it she considers the ship as her body she knows the ship better than an organic would True, true; but the ship isn't her body anymore. And that doesn't explain why she felt she had to end things so abrubtly with XR. If she really liked XR, she wouldn't be ashamed to admit it.

oh, I meant about her being huffy about how Buzz refers to her and her wanting to be in control of the situation But True, about her not supposed to be ashamed admitting her feelings to XR... Perhaps she's confused about said feelings? She states that she has feelings, but how sure is she of them? Like I said, she's a prideful girl, so admitting something that is definitely different than what the world views would probably make her a bit ashamed... (they claim that she's a computer, not supposed to feel) but she claims to have feelings... she's both computer and "human" which means she's alive, thus setting her apart from the black and white views of the world. Whereas XR is mostly unafraid of being different (or is he?) she may have trouble identifying certain feelings, and is probably conscientious of what others think about her... another reason for her dropping XR, is that she doesn't have the experience XR has. She just came into being, and being in a constant relationship probably would scare her a little... and noone specifically said that she didn't stay. They might as well be seeing each other everyday at Star Command, just not so personal and lovey dovey... I can imagine them being cute tho! :3 But XR's not the type to give up that quickly! (i hope ) he'd still be cute around her and i'm probably sure she'd be somewhat trying to be serious, refraining from encouraging him from being too... cute... in conclusion... they really should have given us another eppie with her... I may be totally wrong with what they originally had in mind! :0 noees..... But with what I had at hand, I think I managed to make into a likeable character, at least for me... with that, 42/XR would be among my list of fav pairings! (I still be shipping Marred and XR/Oc's too, dun't worry! ;D ) gah, my fingers are tired! 42, you better be worth all this... |(

...ha, I'm going to paraphrase an old friend of mine and say...
If the characters were real people, not cartoon characters, obviously anything that happens in the show would just be... there. It happened in real life meaning it just HAPPENED and that's that. BUT, they're NOT real. They're cartoons. They seem real to US if the writer does a good job.
And 42 is just bad writing. Not necessarily because of what she herself is, but because XR is behaving completely unlike himself when he falls for her and THAT IS BAD WRITING. Therefore, I am COMPLETELY unable to accept 42 or the couple because if XR WAS a real person, HE WOULDN'T FALL FOR HER! She's too loud and obnoxious to him- there's no way he'd actually go back and talk to her, he'd be more like- 'screw you, lady. -wanders off and complains to his team about the annoying computer girl-' My reasoning behind this? Just go watch Plasma Monster! THAT is who XR is. Look at him and Petra. He hates her. Who does 42 act like? Well, she acts a lot like Petra! In fact, she does some of the very same things she did, like dissing the space rangers. DOES XR LIKE PETRA EVEN A LITTLE BIT?
Even if she was perfect for him (which, because this IS a cartoon and the writers control every character's personality, she had no excuse NOT to be), he would STILL be out of character to fall for her as fast as he did. Being in ANY relationship takes time. ESPECIALLY if you're insecure, uptight about most of your true feelings and have the emotional maturity of a child. <_<

oh, I meant about her being huffy about how Buzz refers to her and her wanting to be in control of the situation Ah, yeah. That I can understand. Yeah - it is strange that XR does a complete 180 in that scene. Goes from hating her to asking to hear her life story (short story, lol).

ah... Kila's got me pwned! lolz! haven't watched Plazma Boy in a long while, cuz I dun't like Booster getting all overreacting especially after he heard Buzz's "advice"... Poor Booster... him and XR are just walking targets for broken hearts... True, the episode itself was a bit of a downer, some OOCness on XR's part, and just everything happening too darn fast... bleh... But that doesn't mean that 42 herself was to blame... I think... just bad writers, poor 42 I guess the reason why XR was so eager to be in said relationship was probably because he finally found someone like him, robot but alive... even after her being all witchy, he's too elated that she actually can act witchy, and not dull like other bots... which was why I was mildly yet happily surprised that 42 said to take their relationship slower; I had never expected the MAry Sue to act so unMary Sueish... (in a sense, she would have been a Mary Sue, acting all perfect and easily getting the guy, except it seems that she had a bit more to her than what she seems... )... I had expected to a degree that XR would be the one to break it, but apparently he was stuck in lala land for the whole eppie, not that I can blame him too much... teehee, it's funny how worked up i can be for a simple cartoon, but I don't mind much... I like tampering with characters and see just how human they could be... XR just happens to be one of my more perfect candidates, poor guy.. lol

And 42 is just bad writing. Not necessarily because of what she herself is, but because XR is behaving completely unlike himself when he falls for her and THAT IS BAD WRITING. I see what you mean. There is a lot of bad writing going on here. XR falling in love is a HUGE character development that blows the status quo out of the water- something that just can not be squeezed into one half hour episode. If this had been allowed to develop naturally over many (and it would have to be many) episodes, it would be workable. Both XR and 42 could then get used to each other, start relating more, and eventually start a relationship. I'm not sure how long it would last (I don't see it being permanant under any circumstances), but at least then they might be able to mutaully break it off and actually stay friends. This would give XR experience with a real relationship based on something other than looks/infatuation. But the end of this episode? Where XR is lamenting about how he'll never love again and not two seconds later is after some random girl? I hate it when shows do this. It just spits all over the characters. It sets everything back to the status quo. I understand that this is a action/comedy cartoon so there's not going to be long plot/character arcs or whatever- but it's like the writer's just say "Well, we just had all these big events that should have long-reaching consequences, but following through with that is too much for the scope of the show, so here's something that will completely undo everything that just happened!" The worst part is they had an interesting concept but blew it. I like my character development writers, don't dangle it in front of me then throw it out the window, please.
