Yeah, that makes sense.

uh, and how old could XL be? I think he would be older than 20 because Buzz didn't know anything about the 'XL project', and he was a space ranger for 20 years, right?

Hmm, interesting point - I never thought of that before. But XL didn't necessarily have to be built before Buzz joined Star Command - maybe the whole thing happened while Buzz was out on a long assignment. *shrugs* It's possible.

but they must have worked on XL pretty long. I mean, they wouldn't shut him down just after, I don't know, 2 days, right? It would be a waste of money for the parts they used for him.

Maybe XL was shut down before Buzz got into higher ranks? He could have been a rookie at the time XL was built and dismantled.
And between that my guess is that they would have been wasting more money with things getting destroyed than having XL around. I'm not saying he was shut down after two days, but at the most he may have last half a year before they pulled the plug on the project?

could be. We'll never know... Still, I think he'd be something about 20 years old.

Are we counting all the years XL spend in storage during his shut-down? I mean, for all we know he could be ten and spend eight of those years in storage.
But, then again, do those years really count? He wasn't developing or sentient at all during this time.
And, as to his obvious immaturity, I think it's been established that there's definitely something wrong in XL's brain chip. This could be the cause of his lack of development, and maybe even his social skills (Then again, it could be the years of storage).
I figure he suffers from the equivalent of robot down syndrome.

well, I meant the years since he was built.
