Buzz raised an eyebrow and said slowly, "Nooo, I don't think so..."
"Sounds terrific," Buzz agreed, heading toward the cafe. Huh, he'd forgotten how crowded his own home city could still be at this time of night.

"Let's see if we can find a seat. I'm not really up to wondering around town right now."
The Coffee shop was even more crowded than Mira expected. The line had to be about ten people long and about every seat was taken inside the little shop. She forgot than when it came to a holiday shopping spree everything gets crowded, even coffee shops.
"Guess we better get in line before it gets any longer." Mira sliped through the throng of people, bumping into every shoulder she passed. Many 'excuse me's' were given and all were recieved with mild, tired stares.
Mira hated to think that Christmas was something more than just a brightm, cheery holiday with decorations, but the grit of things were that it was stressful. Everyone having to by everyone presants, getting what was needed on time, the tree, the dinner.
Mira sighed. She still was giftless and really had no lead of what to get everyone.

Buzz looked at Mira – really looked at her. She looked peaked. He gently slipped an arm around her waist and held her close. “You look tired,” he commented sympathetically. “…You know, my place isn’t that far from here. How ‘bout we drop by, have some coffee there, and I’ll take you home after that?”

Ok, was that what she thinks it means? Mira looked down at the arm around her waist and gulped. Ok, this was...progressing. Yeah, that was a word for it.
"Umm...you're house?" He was right, he did live about five minutes away from here and it was crowded everywhere they stepped but....his house?
"Sure. Why not?" What's the harm in going to someone's house and chatting for a while?

Buzz suddenly realized that his arm was around Mira’s waist. Craters, he was so used to doing it with Erin that it just came instinctively. He gently eased his arm away and said, “Great. Let’s go.”
As they made their way to Buzz’s house, they passed homes all lit-up with Christmas lights. It almost made Buzz wish that he had strung up his own outdoor lights like Erin had begged him to. Oh well.
The snow was picking up when they reached the house, and Buzz quickly got them inside and flipped on the lights – including the tree to the side of the couch. “Okay, just hold on a minute and I’ll get us some coffee.”

Mira nodded, looking at the tree. It was the only thign Christmas-y in the house. No lights were hung up outside and not many decorations were put up around the house.
That was kinda sad for a man who loved Christmas so much.
But she digressed. The only problem that was with the house was that it was empty--besides for her and Buzz that is. It was hollow, void of people, heck she didn't see any lights on in neighbors home either. They were completely alone.
And they were together.
She sighed. Something in her gut said this wasn't going to end well. But another part said she was worrying too much over nothing and she should shut up and drink her coffee. But she hoped that the latter was right.

Buzz started whistling “White Christmas” as he got the coffee going. Moving over to the fridge, he opened the freezer and pulled out a carton of chocolate ice cream – then two bowls and two spoons from the cupboard. “Help yourself,” he grinned, then took the coffee pot off and poured two mugs.
“Umm, milk? Sugar? I think I might –” he stuck his head inside the fridge – “have some creamer… Ha! There it is!” He reemerged, holding up a vanilla cream.

"Don't put yourself to so much trouble." Mira entered the kitchen and took a look at the ice cream. "Sorry Buzz, I'm not really hungry for ice cream. It's too cold out for me to actually enjoy it. Catch me on a summer day, maybe." She smiled, taking the coffee mug and put two spoon fulls of sugar in.

“Will do,” Buzz shrugged, and put the ice cream back. He settled at the table and held his mug two-handed, letting the warmth seep in. “Mmm, that feels good.”

"Better than ice cream." Mira took a sip. Her body warmed instantly, relieving itself from the chilled night air.
"How about we head back in the living room? Warmer in there."
She didn't want to boss Buzz around in his own home, but standing in a kitchen all night wasn't her way of having a good time. Espeically when it felt like the windows were opened, letting in cold, snowy air.

“Fine by me,” Buzz nodded, and slipped out into the living room. He drummed his fingers on his mug and wondered how he was ever going to ask her… what he wanted to ask her. He turned to the Christmas tree and studied it.
There were several ornaments there that he had made as a boy, and ornaments that his mom had made when she was a girl. And then several more that Nana had crafted over the years.
And, of course, there were the usual store or catalog-bought ornaments. Balls, stars, bells… a Space Ranger ornament Buzz had gotten for a present when he was twelve… A Santa Claus, some elves, a Rudolph, a sleigh…
The best part, though, were the angels that were always hung near the top, and the Star of Bethlehem crowning it all.

"Think we'll ge anymore snow before Christmas?"
She sighed and sat herself down on the couch. Something was bothering her though.
"That shop's still bothering me. Buzz are you sure there's no one out there? What about those scientists?"

“Hmm? Oh, uh… yeah, I think so. Probably.” Huh, there was an undercurrent in Mira’s voice – she had something else on her mind. Buzz studied her briefly.
“You mean the Chlorm? …I don’t know, I think I’d expect something a little more… I don’t know.” Buzz shrugged helplessly. “What if Anderson and Wire are their own evil entity? It’s possible, right?”

"Evil? Those two? Not really. Besides ripping you off 200$ unibucks they don't really take me for evil. Maybe greedy, but isn't that more like your normal thug? And if it wasn't a mind probe I would like to know how they pulled off that magic trick?"
Mira huffed, setting her hand on her palm, her elbow resting on her kness.

“Mira, Zurg would rip 200 unibucks off of me if he thought he could get away with,” Buzz pointed out. “And he’d do it just for kicks and bragging rights. Not only that, but with whatever it was that those two pulled on us – magic or mind probes or whatever – that takes them out of the ‘normal thug’ category.” His voice lowered in that dramatic way of his that he actually hadn’t used in a while – hey, you have to keep up your reputation. “Nope, there’s something special about those two – I know it!”
