Mira nodded, leading him through the halls and to the elevator, taking it to the fifth floor. Her eyelids felt so heavy, her body feeling the weight of the day and the night without sleep. Her bones ached and her head heavy on her shoulders.
She wanted to sleep in her bed so bad, but it wouldn't feel right going home without Cora.
"In here," She said. Buzz went back to his room hours ago, doctors orders, saying he needed a full night's sleep. She couldn't argue with that. Pretty soon they'd be wheeling her off on a stretcher from lack of sleep.
Cora didn't look any better from the hour she'd been gone from her bedside, but she at least didn't get any worse. She was just about looking the same, and maybe just a little more rested.
Mira went up to the bedside and stroked the hair out of her face lightly. "Hon," She whispered soothingly. "Grandfather's here to see you."
Cora's eyes moved behind her eyelids, but again she didn't give much of a response.
"Want to say something to her? She hears us."

She was bone-tired, he could tell that. She looked… well, stars, she looked so much like her mother. Maybe he’d tell her that later.
It was a sobering experience, seeing his future granddaughter lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to monitors and all manner of medical apparatus. And just seeing Mira act, well, just like her mother had with her… it made King Nova’s heart ache.
“Hmm? Oh.” He roused himself from memories. “Certainly.” He moved over to the other side of Cora’s bed and bent over it. “Cora?” he murmured. “Well, young lady, it certainly seems you’ve picked up your parents’ penchant for trouble. Both of them. They’re magnets for it, you know.” He looked up to give Mira a quick wink.

Mira raised a curious brow, but didn't pry. She just took her place by the wall, silently watching the scene unfold before her.
It was fascinating to watch her father be so...fatherly. He always treated her like gold when she was younger, but after her mother's death being a King seemed to have came first rather than her.
Maybe that was why she always wanted to escape the palace. It wasn't just her prison, it was a reminder that she lost her father along with her mother there.
"You know," She smiled. "We're not that danger prone." She stopped herself. When weren't they in trouble? It's either Zurg or some other villain that sent them into danger. On a regular basis. And now with Cora things are getting even more complicated.
"You know, never mind. Keep going."

The King arched one eloquent eyebrow at his daughter but otherwise did not respond. “M’yes, well… remind me, Cora, to tell you sometime about some of the escapades your mother got into when she was younger.” If Cora was anything like Mira, she’d love that. “Quite a handful, your mother—you’re probably just like her in that, hmm?”

Mira blushed. "Father! Don't give her any idea!" She stopped, realized what she said, and blushed again, even harder. "Not like I was that bad of a kid, but I wasn't exactly miss goody-two-shoes either."
Thinking her father was getting along better than she thought he would, she took a few quick steps to the door.
"I'm going to go see Buzz again. Knowing him he's probably still awake." And possibly already dressed, planning out his escape route. She thought to herself.
She didn't bother knocking this time, she just entered quietly in case he was asleep.
"Father's here." Mira said into the dim room.

King Nova smirked. “I know.” His smirk softened with memory. “No, you weren’t that bad—but you were a lot for one poor old king to handle.”
The King nodded. “Go ahead. Your girl and I will be just fine.”
“Mm?” Buzz roused himself and focused on Mira. “Oh, good.” He was back in bed but wearing civvies once more, and a datapad sat on the blanket beside him. He had to blink the sleep away from his eyes before he spoke again. “I was just catching up on all that happened yesterday.”

Mira smiled "I guess any child would be too much to handle for single parent."
**** "That's good to know." She leaned against the door, taking another look back at them. "Dad? Thanks for coming here and seeing her."
**** Mira raised a curious brow, shaking her head while clicking over to the bed.
"Do I know you or what?" She smirked. "I didn't come in here for an update, more just to see if you were making an escape plan. Now why are you in normal clothing, hmm?"

“Indeed. That is the only reason I’m not killing your future husband, you know,” the King continued, deadpan. “I don’t want to see you that stressed-out.” It was the tiny twinkle in his eyes that gave him away.
*** King Nova smiled pensively. “I’m always here for you when you need me, Mira. Just you remember that, now.”
*** Buzz arched a playful eyebrow. “Ohhh, you do know me, hmm? Well, now, Princess, it just so happens that I didn’t want to be in a hospital gown for the time that I inevitably have to see your father, so there. I’m actually too—” he yawned—“argh, too sleepy to make a descent escape.”

Mira did a double take, not completely sure if he was kidding or not. "So Buzz has at least eighteen or nineteen years left in him before you strike, huh?"
**** Mira nodded. "I will. And don't tell your granddaughter too much about my past. It'll be a hassle for me when she gets active again."
****
Mira glared at him, still not too fond of him still calling her Princess after all these years.
"Sure, we wouldn't want him laughing in your face now, would we?"
She tapped her foot to the floor for something to do. Looking around the dim room it reminded her of this one horror game Booster use to play on break. Luckily it gave them both the creeps that he never played it again.
With a small shiver she went over and turned on the light. "So, think you can make another trip over to Cora's? Or do you want to just stay here?"

Her father studiously maintained his neutral expression—he hadn’t been the King of Tangea all these years for nothing, after all. “Oh, about. Although I hear that men with more children live longer, so adding two or three to your family plans might do wonders for your fiancée’s health.” Hmm, it was just plain fun playing like this.
*** “Oh, and we wouldn’t want that,” King Nova agreed. “Go on now.” He made a shooing motion.
*** Buzz shrugged. “That, or I just have a little dignity.”
*** Buzz blinked in the brighter lighting. “Not at the moment—I’d probably fall asleep just walking over there.” He yawned again. “If they get anything started with her, I’ll come.”

"And not much for my figure. Sorry, but think two kids is enough to handle." She looked over at Cora, a small smile creeping onto her face. "And this one just proves one is too much to handle."
***
Mira gave him a look, leaving not too long after that. She heard him begin talking again after than. She wasn't too sure of what from how muffled his voice was behind the door.
*** Mira shrugged. "You never have a little dignity when it comes to my father. That's just how he is. Although he's acting like a new time father again when he was talking to Cora. I think he's warming up to her."
***
"That's fine," She yawned. "But that won't be for a couple more hours. The blood samples have to come in still."
She took a seat beside the bed, laying her head back, feeling the whole twenty-two hours without sleep hit her all at once.
"If I fall asleep, don't wake me till a surgeon comes in."

King Nova smiled faintly. “Oh, I don’t know about that. I also hear it actually gets easier to handle children, with every new baby you have.” Hmm, was he actually pushing for more half-blood grandchildren? …Well, considering that they were the only grandchildren he was going to get, he might as well.
*** Buzz smiled. “That’s great!” He settled back against his pillows. “Cora’s said that they’re pretty close in the future—I’m glad.”
*** “Roger that,” Buzz nodded, leaning his head back into one of the pillows and yawning again.

"I see you keep skipping the part about my figure." Although that was the case, she was smiling. Huh, even her father wanted more grandchildren? Oh well, two had to be good enough for him if it was good enough for her.
*** "Yeah," Mira nodded. "I'm happy about it too. I think being around her makes him feel young again. Y'know, makes him remember the times he spent raising me when I was young."
She paused, thinking of a new theory that came to realization to her. "Hey, do you think after we have Cora Father would never stop coming to the house to see her?" She smiled deviously Buzz's way. "Think about it, every weekend dedicated to spending time with my father as he plays with your little girl on your day off."
**** "And if you have an extra pillow mind throwing it my way? These chairs hurt." She turned her head over to him. "Or maybe I can squeeze into your bed?"
Even though they were going to get married and have kids together, it was always fun to torture him like this.

The King smirked back. “Well, dear, which is more important, figure or family?” Of course, as Mira’s father, he held it as his duty to keep his daughter on her mental toes—after all, she couldn’t possibly be receiving that much mental stimulation off-Tangea.
*** Buzz couldn’t help grinning. “That’s pretty neat.” A few joking comments about King Nova raising his daughter ran through Buzz’s mind, but he didn’t dare voice them. After all, he had a will to live.
Then Mira had to conjecture about future visits from his future father-in-law. He stared at her in abject horror, and a few moments passed before he could manage a coherent sentence. “I always did hate weekends since I joined up.” Oh, the horror! A full waking day spent in the same house with a king that, not that long ago, hated his guts!
*** He wordlessly tossed her a pillow and gave her a glare that said, If you even think that I’d let you do that, you’ve got another thing coming. ‘Course, he knew that she was just yanking his chain, but that didn’t make it any less irritating.

Mira scowled, not liking where this conversation was going." Family, of course, but females tend to care about how wide their hips will be when they reach the tender age of thirty. And two kids are a perfectly fine limit to stop at."
She couldn't believe she was having this argument with her father. He did know that she'd be reproducing with a human, didn't he?
***
Mira gave Buzz a questioning look over that stupid grin spreading over his face like butter to toast, but she didn't pry. "I guess. Yeah, it's pretty neat she's getting that bonding time with grandpa over there, but it's too bad she's comatose right now."
And then she smiled, a way to cover up the laugh that was bubbling up inside her chest. "Oh yes, and maybe for Christmas he'd stay all the way till New Years. And I don't mean in a hotel, hun."
**** Mira snickered to herself, taking the pillow and rested her head on it. It was stuffed with feathers that made it oh so fluffy and comfortable to lay on. Soon her eyes were shut and she was fast asleep before even saying thanks to Buzz.
