"Yep," She smiled, patting his arm. "A few more seconds and I'll be on my way."
The seconds were up as she took the needle out, cleaning up the blood left on his arm. She bandaged him up with gauze and tape, leaving moments later, the door clicking behind her.
About twenty minutes later Mira returned, looking far more tired than she did before.
"I remember why I hated paper work in the first place." She scratched at the newly placed bandage on her hand, her own blood taken before she came back in.
"I asked the doctor if it was alright to wheel you in to see Cora. Are you up for a little trip down the hall? He said it was up to you."

Buzz had to laugh a little at that.
Buzz blinked. Did she say… wheel? Oh, forget it—Cora was more important than pride. “Yes. Definitely.”

"Ok. I would tell him to get a wheel chair ready, but I got the feeling you want to walk there." She smirked. "It's only three doors down anyways. Come on, let me help you out of bed."
She went over and gave him a hand. "I don't think she's awake, but you'd probably want to see her."

Buzz let out a short laugh. “You know me so well.”
He moved carefully along with her. “Yeah—ow—yeah. Absolutely.”

"Then let's go see our kid before some discovers you're not taking proper care of yourself."
She led him down the hall and to Cora's room. She put a finger to her mouth, opening the door quietly as they entered the dark room. Moving swiftly, leaving Buzz for a quick second, Mira turned on the beside lamp, the glow illuminating Cora's pale blue face as she laid face up in bed, as peaceful as the dead.
"She looked better before," Mira said weakly. "Maybe that shard is doing more harm the longer it stays in there."
She guided him to the extra chair.

Buzz exhaled shakily as he saw his child laying there, hurt. “Y-yeah,” he murmured. “Yeah, maybe.” He rubbed at his eyes. “Aw, Cora.”

Mira didn't say anything. She just looked down at the bed and heaved in a shaky breath.
"Hopefully the blood samples will prove useful." She took a seat beside him, leaning her head on his shoulder, hoping it didn't hurt him.
"Think she can hear us?"

It hurt a little, but it felt good having her lean on him. “Maybe.” Buzz took Mira’s hand again, struck by how oddly… familial it felt. Take away the hospital setting and the monitors and tubes and all, and they were just two parents watching their daughter sleep.
“Hey, sweetheart,” he murmured, reaching out to brush the back of his fingers lightly along her cheek. “I love you.”

Mira did the same, but took her daughter's hand, stroking her thumb softly against the back of it.
"I love you too, honey. Don't worry, everything will be alright. I promise."
They sat like that for a little while longer, just watching her sleep. If it weren't for the mask over her face, breathing air into her, she would have just been sleeping peacefully in her own bed at home.
Mira closed her eyes, coming to a decision. "Maybe I should call father? Do you think he might want to know about Cora being in the hospital? Maybe..." She stood up just then, her eyes wide. "Buzz, maybe my father might know a way to help! There had to be more halflings other than Cora in the past!"

Buzz blinked. “Yeah… actually, yeah. That’s—Mira, that’s a great idea! Yeah, Cora can’t have been the only halfling ever!”

Mira nodded, bending over to kiss Cora on the cheek before leaving out the door. "Maybe he's still up. Hopefully he can take a call from his daughter this late at night."
She stopped at the door, opening it halfway, looking over at Buzz still sitting there. "Maybe if you talk to her more, she'll get better. She is Daddy's little girl after all. I'll be right back."
((Sky, do you want to play King Nova in this RP?))

((Sure, I’m game!))
Buzz smiled. “Well, then she’s like her mom, isn’t she? Go on, we’ll be fine.” He took Cora’s hand and settled more comfortably by her side.

Mira nodded, leaving the room again, and again, heading down the hallway, but in a different direction than the front desk, the phones being on the opposite end of the hall.
Paying her two cents she leaned again the wall, waiting for an answer on the other side.
When the familiar click of the signal getting through she turned to look face to face with her equally tired father.
"Father," Mira chocked.

“The media is a wonderful way to keep up to date on events, especially when they relate to your own daughter,” Kign Nova said by way of greeting. “Mira, are you all right? How is your… child?”

Mira groaned, wishing for one minute that the media never even existed. "I'm fine, father, but...Cora's not doing so well. They....found a metal pipe shard lodged into her ribcage and they need to surgicly remove it and...they might not be able to do it now because...."
"Father, I know you haven't exactly accepted Cora as your granddaughter yet, but please I'm begging you. I need your help. Was there any other halflings before her? Tangean halfings?"
