Time to explain my banner, or more like, who's going to watch Nolan's next Batman movie, The Dark Knight?

ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME
But to tell you the truth, I'm not big fan of the new joker, may he Rest in Peace.
He doesn't look like crime makes him really laugh, and joker is all about laughter. I really want to see the movie to make an actually fair judgement

*raises hand* ME TOO~! ...When it eventually comes out here. ^^;;
I haven't really seen anything about the new movie so I don't know if it sucks or not. (I don't want to spoil myself.) So I'll be the judge of that when I see it. But, well... the first Batman movie was a bit... unusual. Hmm... Maybe I'll have to watch it again before I see the Dark Knight. *o*

I agree with RedRage, Ledger's performance may be great, but judging from the ads, it's not the Joker I know and love, and I'm afraid I'll be biased because of that.

ETA: Since I worry too much, I added 'no spoilers' in the thread title. Ledger's Joker in the trailers made me stand up and say WOW--I really have to watch this. And read up and reexamine the Joker, and I found that while he's still frightening (knew him first from DCAU, and Batman Beyond's Return of the Joker UNCUT forever traumatized in regards to him), he is pretty cool. So, I'm already generating some bias toward Ledger's performance being made of awesome, and I eagerly anticipate watching it. I rather like serious looking Joker because it's a novelty, you rarely see that in his character...but, maybe they don't want to fit all the (possible) laughter in the trailers? I loved Batman Begins--for a time, it knocked Spider-Man as my favorite Superhero movie (then came this year's Iron Man...) R.I.P. Heath Ledger

It's always nice to see some innovation when it comes to a classic character, being original is good, that's why I like the Batman's Joker and his joker hair, I love Batman Beyond and a(once)new take on a new Batman.

I love Batman Beyond.
You liked the Batman? It's rare to find that, I think; myself, I certainly don't have a burning hatred for it, but I do like the DCAU and just Bruce Timm's animated work better. (But The Batman did an awesome job with J'onn, so they get like a million points for that from me.)

I think that most people are hard on the batman because they compare it side by side to their best memories of batman the animated series. I've seen both recently (as in both in the same week, month, a few months ago). I once read a review that pissed me off, it pretty much translated to "the batman it sucks because it's not batman the animated series, 2.3/5 (or something like it)", but covered up an without so much as a mention of it. Decorated with loads 'n loads of crap.
Don't get the wrong impression though, I like both cartoons, and I probably like the animated series better, but not because nostalgia. I do think that it started looking really bad when it became (unofficially) Gothan Knights. GOODNESS GRACIOUS CATWOMAN, HAVE YOU EVER EATEN IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE. Still, it was awesome, I hated it when I saw a marathon of it months ago... 'cause I couldn't leave to do something else D :, so good, I should get the Dvd, I have 2 JL videos though : D
The thing is, I've seen episodes of the animated series that have had nothing, joker comes, then we see people "oh the thrash is making us laugh", "I WONDER WHO IS TO BLAME FOR THIS", "I Batman, came, saw, defeated teh jokors!"... why don't they give that a bad review, hah?.
I really like the music in the batman's second theme, there is something, hard to explain, it drives me nuts, I love it. Some people hate it, but they fail to see that it goes with the cartoon, it's as serious and as cheerful as it needs to be. Another thing I really like about the Batman is their Batgirl, she's so cool!, funny, and very very cute, but specially cool, HI RED.
What I seriously don't like, in any Batman, is references or likeness to the '60s stuff, they did that in the last season of the animated series, and it's all over the batman. It's all fun and games until someone drags it into the canon.
It's worse when someone puts the '60s theme in their sigs, or personal comments, you'd have to be retarded to have something like "Batman- ta nanananaNA, BATMAN, BATMAAAAN"... Geez, some people.
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I love, LOVE, LOVE the Justice League Unlimited cartoon, one of my favorite cartoons of all time. Flash is so awesome, saying that Batman is awesome is unnecessary, that goes unsaid!, and Superman, and... and my head exploded!

The Justice League cartoon was so awesome (and I was really sad to see it go.) I am lucky to have the entire series on DVD sets.

Lucky! ;D Just please label your reaction as SPOILER-FILLED...pretty sure I'll watch the movie a week later (in the hope that crowds will lessen and it'll be easier to get tickets). Think I'll put that in my signature, please don't spoil me... [ETA: there it is below]

I don't wanna know, I don't wanna hear, I don't wanna read. I wanna judge by myself. My brother saw the most recent ninja turtles and he told me it was kind of dull before I saw it, and I was all "WHY DID YOU TELL ME I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL ME", then he said, "I thought you didn't want spoilers, those aren't spoilers". If I read that critics loved it, then I'll think it's bad, 'cuase critics are wrong and full of crap. If I read that it's good, from people then I won't mind, but worse case scenario I get too excited and expect more than I will get. I really don't want to read or hear that it's bad, it's Batman, I just want to go see it, and not be told. blacksteel, you are welcome to give us your opinion, but I ask you, please, hide the message in a way that only those who want to read it do, maybe 10-15 enter spaces and warn about spoiler area. : ) also: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDxgNjMTPIs

My feelings on critics vary: sometimes I think they read my mind, sometimes I'm like 'forget you, I know what my gut says, and my own personal tastes.'
ETA: OMG, I love randomguy's work, it always makes me laugh, and this one made me LOL so hard, thanks so much for the non-spoiler link! ;D (Oh, but movieverse!Iron Man, I will still forever heart you alongside my other favorites.)

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I wasn't planning on sharing spoiler-esque stuff when I see it. I meant I'd share a more general opinion, like if I liked the actors' acting, visual effects, the movie in general... stuff like that. ^^ And I doubt I'll go see it in the first wave, it'll be too crowded. But sometime fairly soon, I hope. I understand though, how feelings can be swayed by others' opinions. Mine get easily swayed too, so I usually avoid reading and/or watching and/or listening to anything that might influence me.
I can give examples of movies that I was forewarned of in some way or other, with the complete opposite results.
1. Stardust -- When I first saw the trailer I was devastated. It seemed so shoddy and such an unfair tribute to Neil Gaiman's book, I was convinced it was going to be horrible. So when my little sister was determined to drag me along to see it, I went half-hearted. That it, however, until the movie started. I was quite impressed with the movie itself. So impressed that I even liked it more than the book, something extremely rare for me. ^^ I really don't understand why they had to make such a ridiculous trailer for it, it really threw me back with the movie itself.
2. Jumper -- The trailer looked fantastic, so I couldn't wait to see what this movie was going to be about. But instead of all the excitement I'd been expecting, I found this film terribly mediocre. it didn't help that my Dad had read the book and told me about it. At least it was hardly like the book, but still, I found the movie a big disappointment. They could have done so much more with such a plot to leave it at that...
Which is basically my way of saying don't listen to what everyone else says. Spoiling yourself with what people say, trailers, pics, and articles will further worsen your perspective. Just a little something I've always noticed about upcoming movies, specifically.

So I saw it, and darn it's good. The new joker IS a good joker, the part that bothered me the most was in the trailers when he said "why so serious?" very seriously, but when in context it is ok. I don't know if it's a spoiler, if it is then a tiny one, but for the rest of the movie his voice is really adequate, I loved the tongue thing he kept doing, haha.
