...Don't worry, Steel - I haven't forgotten to give you a nice big review on "Playing with the Big Boys"... You're just gonna hafta wait a bit longer, 'kay?
THE GOOD NEWS
I have four new videos, and two of them are up on YouTube! *cheers*
Mira's Wedding: Reflection
www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIyzPZEGxZU
This one I'm the most excited about! It's a fan-extended scene from "Mira's Wedding." As my mom was watching it, I told her that it was like the makers had set it up for me!
King Nova: I Loved Her First
www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnwMSfLhih0
I'm proud of this one. It wasn't the easiest thing to find all the right King Nova clips, and I had to reuse a couple. But it turned out wonderfully, and I'm very happy with it!
THE BAD NEWS
Has anybody here ever heard of someone's videos' ratings ALL being bumped down to half-a-star? No? Well, guess what.
It happened to me.
At first, I thought that maybe YouTube had changed the rating system, 'cause that just couldn't be right! I had several 5-star videos - most of my Prince Caspian clips, a Star Wars fanfilm trailer, my "Lone Wolf" AMV, and my first Buzz/Mira AMV. But I checked around, and discovered that the rating system was the same, and the stars had been lowered. DRASTICALLY.
Why?
I don't know. I've never said or done anything to make any enemies - well, there was one guy... the one who's hit just about everyone in the fandom with his "Screw Buzz. Go Sonic!"? Yeah, but I blocked him from my channel completely. He shouldn't be able to TOUCH my stuff, and that was back last winter, anyway. He's probably forgotten all about me.
My mom was around when I saw this discrepancy, so I told her about. She said it's because I'm nice and I've got good stuff on my channel. That's when it hit me.
Come on, guys, think about it. There's something about me that makes me different. What is it?
That's right: I'm a Christian.
I've never uploaded any actual Christian videos to my channel, but I have a few people on my friends list who are Christians, I've posted a few comments on Christian videos, I'm subscribed to... I think one evangelistic channel, I have more than a few Christian videos in my favorites, AND I use the word "Christian" in my little YouTube... bio or whatever you call it.
The point is, if you look me up on YouTube, it doesn't take long to figure out that I'm a Christian. And I'm sure that's why this happened. KJ, you're under my friends list, and anybody who visits your channel is going to figure that out right away. If the rating thing happens to you, too, we'll know almost beyond a shadow of a doubt that I'm right. But I sure hope it doesn't happen...
At first, I was angry. And I don't mean moderately mad - I mean angry. Like, I-wish-I-had-laser-eyes kind of angry.
I know that, in an increasingly anti-Biblical/anti-Christian world, stuff like this happens. My pastor's inflatable pool was vandalized last year, and we live out in the country! My church and my pastor's home is often described as being out in the middle of nowhere! ...I just never expected to be targeted for my beliefs like this on YouTube of all places.
I was targeted, you know. This was done to irritate/frustrate/anger/hurt me.
My mom said that I and my siblings would've been picked on mercilessly if we'd gone to public school. Not only are we just good kids period (complete strangers come up to my family in stores and restaurants just to tell my parents that my sibs and I are so well-behaved - yes, I'm 19, but I'm talking about over the years, ever since I was little), but we're also strongly Christian. And I mean strongly. My parents both attended public school - I'm sure they know what they're talking about. I know that some of the kids I know from my church have been picked on now and then in public school.
...I thank God that my mom taught me at home, and continues to teach my other 5 school-age sibs, from kindergarten to junior year.
...Anyway... Now, I'm just depressed. I feel like I've been vandalized. In a way, I feel violated.
My mom wants to get on YouTube and bump my ratings back up. It's not a bad idea. Anybody who's interested... would you mind bringing my ratings back up? Please? As far as you honestly feel like it. I mean, we know I have good stuff, and that half of it did previously have a full 5 stars, anyway.
Please?
