Warp glanced at Liz as Erin and Booster got up to leave. He didn't think she'd really enjoy cafeteria food, but it wa better than being left by herself. "Would you like to get something to eat, Liz? Our food's not the best but it's managable...for the most part." He smiled warmly

Buzz gave an incredulous laugh. “Mira and I cooking? All that I can make at this point in time is hot sauce and hamburgers, and I don’t even know if your mom can cook!” He looked at Cora, curious. “What did we cook?”
“Sounds like a good idea,” Buzz nodded, moving off in that direction. “Your mom’s got a mother hen instinct that I would never have believed could be there.”

Cora shrugged. "A little bit of everything. I mean you guys are no chefs, but you did experiment with a lot of things. By they way, meatloaf is never allowed in the house. Ever."
Cora hid a laugh behind her hand when her mother came up behind them. "What's this I hear about me being a mother hen?"
She looked over at Buzz sullenly.
"Oh hi guys. Decided to follow us, didja?"

She opened her mouth to say that she wasn't really hungry, but the sudden low growl that issued from her stomach betrayed her. "...Um, sure. I guess," she said, getting up from the table.
She still felt awkward and self-concious around so many strangers, but she decided that she ought to make the most of it, seeing as she'd decided to stick around.

"Alright then, follow me." Warp's smile broadened ever so slightly as he turned down the hallway with Liz in tow. He could see that she was still feeling awkward about the situation, for what reason--he had no idea, but he was going to do his best to relieve her nervousness.

Buzz laughed. “No meatloaf – got it.”
“Mira! Oh, um…” Buzz smiled sheepishly at her. “Just that you, um, well, not that it’s a bad thing – it’s good, that you, uh…” He glanced at Cora, who was definitely enjoying this too much. “Never mind.”
XR noticed Liz’s tension and decided to comment. “Heeey, gal, don’t be so tense! Nobody’s gonna bite you or anything.”
Somewhere in the background, Erin smacked her forehead and muttered, “XR…”

Warp felt his shoulders sag a bit as XR attempted another...well, attempted. Liz didn't need XR mouthing off. No one did for that matter. "Do you mind, XR?"

She followed Warp down the hallway, stuffing her hands into her pockets.
“Heeey, gal, don’t be so tense! Nobody’s gonna bite you or anything,” the robot piped up.
She’d been that obvious? Either her friends never commented on it or this was just the situation that had brought out her nervousness like nothing else before. But then again she hadn’t gone so long without a cigarette before. She wondered briefly what Hellboy would think about that. She’d quit smoking before he’d left, but had taken it back up a few years afterward. They’d quit together, actually. Abe had kept carping on them about it and they’d both decided to quit for their amphibian friend. He’d probably be disappointed... if he even cared anymore.
“It’s okay,” Liz assured Warp. XR didn’t seem so bad to her—but then again it wasn’t as if he knew him, so she decided to pull his leg a bit.
“I should hope not,” she joked, grinning down at the robot. “Vampires always leave bitemarks—never pleasant.” She wondered if he’d even know what a vampire was or if the joke would just pass over his head.

“Hey, I didn’t do anything wrong!” XR defended.
XR’s eyes went wide with fear. There was a brief metallic screeching sound that his teammates knew was a scream. “They had vampires back then, too??”
Booster and Erin winced. “XR, it’s okay,” Booster assured him.

Liz blinked, looking from one ranger to the other, not having expected XR to react quite like that. “...Did I miss something here? You guys fight supernatural beings too?” Well, this was interesting.

All he could do was sigh. There was no point in trying to explain things to the robot right now.
"Well, if you say so." Warp shrugged. "Just don't let him get too out of hand."
Warp coughed discreetly, even though he knew it was obvious what he was trying to cover up.

Erin sighed. “Not exactly, although there was that one –” she glanced wryly at Warp – “space mummy… Zurg once built what’s called an ‘energy vampire,’ Nos-4-A2 – and yes, I realize the significance of that name. Anyway, Nos was a robot who lived off of the energy he drained from other machines – other robots, especially.”
“I was his favorite target or something!” XR whimpered.
“That’s true,” Erin nodded, glancing sympathetically at the little ‘bot. “XR was probably Nos’s first prey, and also the reason for his first defeat. It was a revenge thing after that.”

A frown crossed Warp's features as he tried to ignore Erin's comment on a certain space mummy. But he had to given and say, "Not bad for an old guy, huh?"

Erin groaned good-naturedly. “Waaarp. No, not bad at all, screwball.” She reached over and smacked him lightly on his real shoulder.

"Hey! What'd you do that for?" Warp rubbed his arm gingerly. "I can't help it if I'm a good screwball. What did you marry me for anyway?"
