“I didn’t smack you that hard, hotshot,” she retorted.
Then, moaning, Erin turned to Booster and buried her face in his shoulder. “Somebody shoot me, please.”

“Ohhhh.” Who’d’ve thought Zurg had a liking for the supernatural? Not Liz, that’s for sure. “Well, I wouldn’t call a mummy supernatural, but—you know what, nevermind. I don’t think I even want to know.”
She looked down at XR. “Sorry about that.”

Erin laughed, muffled, into Booster’s shoulder, then stood straight again. “You’ll prolly still find out sooner or later,” she grinned.
“Uh, heh, yeah, it’s okay, don’t worry about it,” he tried to assure her. Tried, since he was still kind of edgy. “I mean, heh, it’s not like you got two fang marks on your torso and turned into a vampire-‘bot yourself!” So much for self-control.

“Oh boy,” she muttered, rolling her eyes. She wasn’t a big fan of unpleasant surprises.
“Well, if you really want to know, I have been bitten by vampires. Twice. Not by the same vampire, I might add,” Liz said, rolling up her sleeve to show XR a few faint white scars on her forearm. “’Course, I torched them both after that, so it wasn’t too bad. Hurt for weeks, though.”

Cora nodded. "Good. We don't need anything that might blink back in the house." And for the first time that morning Cora smiled a real smile at her father.
* "No, no." Mira shook her head, crossing her arms at the same time. "Go on, I'd like to hear your explanation."
"Don't look at me Dad, you got yourself into this one."
"Are you always this crude?" Mira asked. Cora shrugged, but the smile on her face told all. She was enjoying this way too much, but if Mira was witness to her parents own little petty squabbles she might be in the same boat.

Buzz stared at her. “Are. You. Serious?”
***
Buzz groaned, smacking his palms against his forehead and dragging them down his face. “I want a son to even this family out,” he muttered under his breath, before turning back to Mira. “You’re just very protective of Cora, like a mother hen,” he told her. “That’s all, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
***
“Oh. Sorry.” XR was embarrassed for a moment… but only a moment. “Well, at least you didn’t have one following you every time you had a run-in with him!”
“And she got them right away, so she didn’t turn into a zombie or anything!” Booster added helpfully.
Erin smacked her forehead again. “I don’t think I want to be seen around you two!” she groaned.

Cora nodded. "As serious as I can be. Seriously, you're not allowed near the stove."
* Mira scrunched up her face, but didn't press any father. "Of course I'm protective of Cora! We have to make sure she makes it back to the future in one piece. And our lifestyles now isn't going to help matters much!"
Cora sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. Was this where her mother got the over protective demeanor? She wasn't like Buzz in the future when dealing with boys and curfews, but she was close enough to having a major meltdown when she learned her daughter wanted to become a ranger.
Buzz acted the same way, but not like Mira. No, he couldn't top how angry Mira was in a thousand years.
((Oh, Sky, I'm gonna PM you about something dealing with the RP. I have an idea I want to run by you real quick. See what you think.))

“I… have no problems with that. At all.”
***
“Whoa, whoa, hey, I agree completely!” Buzz defended, throwing up his hands. “At least about making it back to the future. But, Mira, come on, this is our daughter we’re talking about. I think she’s very capable!”
He stopped and looked to Cora for confirmation. “Right?”

"Good. Because we don't any mishaps. By the way, the meatloaf was totally on you."
*
Cora coughed, looking away almost instantly. Well, she was capable at most things, but sitting side by side with her parents on missions....not so much. She was still in training and she was hardly anything like her father--not even close. To say the least, Cora had a long way to go to be capable enough to take care of herself.

“Figures.” Chicken soup, baaad memory.

“…Okay, so maybe not quite,” Buzz backpedaled. “Look, can we just forget this whole conversation and catch up with the others?”

"Fine," Mira shrugged. "I'll just let this be your one time free pass. Next time you say something behind my back I might be so forgiving toward you. Come on Cora, let's go. You must be starving."
Cora shrugged in the same manner as Mira, following her down the hall. "A little. I've never been fond of Star Command's cooking."
"What were you talking to Buzz about?"
Cora shrugged again. "Nothing much, just how you two experimented with cooking."
"Are we good?"
Cora smiled. "Good enough that you didn't poison me in the sixteen years I've been living."
"Hey you got Star Command people as your parents, not chefs. Right Buzz?"

“Absolutely right, Mira,” Buzz nodded emphatically.
In less than a minute, they caught up with the others, just in time to hear Erin groan something about not wanting to be seen with somebody.
“Who don’t you want to be seen with, Erin?” Buzz frowned.
“Argh, Booster and XR!” she complained. “They’re embarrassing!”
“Are not!” the Rangers in question chorused.
“Yes, you are!”
“Okay, okay, settle down, people,” Buzz ordered, shaking his head.

"Geez, what did you two do now to get her PO'ed?" Cora asked Booster and XR.
"Probably the same old same old." Mira sighed under her breath.

"I'm afraid that 'settle down' isn't exactly on the to do list today, Buzz." Warp held his hands up in a helpless gesture, as if he wasn't part of the problem.
Turning to Liz he said, "Would you like a seat, would do you prefer taking on some of our infamous meatloaf?"

Buzz and the others finally caught up with them at that point, having heard Erin’s complaint on Booster and XR. But Liz smiled, rolling down her sleeve. “It’s okay, Erin,” she reassured her. “I don’t mind talking about it.”
Seeing as the supernatural was an area she could actually show off a bit in, she was feeling far more relaxed and at ease than before.
“Actually, the big guy here’s not that far off the mark,” she added nodding at Booster. “Some breeds of vampire zombiefy their victims but they’re few and far-between. The BPRD’s catalogued over 82 different breeds, all different in their own aspect.
“And no, none took a fancy to me, thankfully,” she said, addressing XR. “But what I’d suggest is get to him before he gets to you.”
She cocked a brow at Warp. “You guys still use meatloaf a millennium in the future for army food?” She shook her head in mock-despair. “It better taste good. The BPRD’s meatloaf was always below-par.”
