Ah yes, the cliche flashback episode! X3 I like it, though.
Poor XR, he desperately wants a flashback.

Oh, it did, didn't it! I noticed that before, but it seemed like a small quibble at the time. I was more tippy about the whole "Hi! Need a lift?" line. Been awhile since I've dragged out the old VHS tapes -- I wish to God these were on DVD!

The episode was just freaking awesome!, action, adventure all over the place!. And sentai!, to top it up.
I could have done with out the made up past <.<.... it wasn't really necesary. Xr's first mission was on the adventure begins WHERE ARE THEY GOING, WHY ARE THEY MAKING UP THIS CRAP, WHY WHY.
As for Booster, I liked to think that he went to star command to work as janitor while he waited to be a ranger, as buzz's biggest fan without even knowing him and all. In fact, I'm going to ignore this whole thing happened!, excuse me while I do so u_u.
*close combat embodies*
"the bad guys are using gigant enemies"
"Rangers! we need our own gigant robot"

Yeah, it doesn't really seem like Booster NEEDED any encouragement to become a ranger.
XR's little story just sucked. Why would Buzz give him sherbet? Can't he tell you're not supposed to give robots sherbet? And that Professor guy is obnoxious.
Mira's story made sense, though, as Buzz mentioned having previously met her in TAB, and if she hadn't, she might not even know space rangers existed. So that one was good.

don't they act, or at least make it sound as if that was the first time xr and buzz ever met?. I remember it like that, and HATING IT WITH A PASSION. Did they even watch the movie?!
mira's story?... mmm--- isn't that the digital comic included in the dvd... aha!, so they saw the extras and skiped the movie!. Makes sense.
(seriously though, I'm actually asking, wasn't that the same as the digital comic?)
"it's ranger time!, all to the gigant robot!"

Yeah, it was pretty much the same... only, y'know, animated and with voices...

You know, something that bugs me about this episode and the Main Event... we see in 'Rookie of the Year', 'Shiv Katall' and 'Return of XL' that though XR is a butterfingers, he's pretty agile on a jetpack. He's able to out-maneuver Buzz Lightyear himself, in fact.
You'd think someone who can pull a trick like that is smart enough to avoid ramming a wall with enough speed to knock his own head off. I mean, in Main Event he at least has the distraction of being shot at. In this one he's looking right at the wall, isn't he?
And if he must run into the wall, is it really necessary to have him fall apart and remain in pieces for the whole rest of the episode?

Neh...It was an alright episode...not the best, but not the worst I've ever seen...
The only highlight for me in the entire episode was listening to the professor's voice and going "OMG! ROBERT PICARDO!"

I really liked the sherbet thing.....-._-. it made me laugh..... but it is different from the real story of how they met.
