Coin and Neo PikachuCoin and Neo Pikachu COLOREDCoin is my Pokemon character while Neo Pikachu belongs to one of my best friends from PE2K. The non colored one took about 2 hours to draw, ink, and erase unwanted pencil lines. The color one took me 4 hours (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.). Once I got the base colors all down, I said screw shading. lol What do you guys think? =^^= Nya

His name actually has nothing to do with my favorite Pokemon attack Payday. I just named him that seven years ago and it's never changed. lol His design has though. At first all he had was a pair of glasses and a bowtie. Then I got rid of those and gave him a trench coat. Then, yesterday, I changed his design into what is there now. Glad that you guys like them. I worked really hard on'em. I'm currently drawing a head shot of Coin. =^^= Nya

What program did you use?. If it was photoshop you could just set the background as layer with double click, then convert the mode to multiply, you would just have to color in a layer under it. Using this method the outlines remaing unchanged, so it is WAY faster and easier than slapping colors on top of it. Now, if you were using something like paint...eh... try the gimp (it doesn't look like paint though, I can see what could be the results of the blur tool). Free and it can do a lot of what photoshop can do. Let me now if you are willing to try to give you the links and a help with instalation. Most of the time I make this suggestion people just go ahead keep using what they were using before (hey too bad for them).

I was using Photoshop but I never knew how to get rid of the background without having to erase it all. ANd I wasn't really in the patience zone to erase the background so I could layer it. XD

XD =^^= Nya Erasing it isn't a good idea either, try this: Double click the background layer. A window will pop asking you to rename the background to whatever you want. Click where it says "normal" (that's the blending mode), a list of modes will show, the one that interests you is "multiply". This will make the white areas of the drawing transparent, and the black ones visible. Create a new layer where you will color. Now drag the color layer below de lineart. Then start coloring, preferably using the pencil tool (except for areas that will not be hidden by the lineart). This should take a lot less time, and it should be a lot easier.

Hey cool character, I like his appearance. At first I thought his hands looked weird, but then I read the description so never mind : P. He has a very serious background, giving your characters some thought is good. I bet it was a lot faster this way huh . If the grey of the paper makes the color look darker and impure, try control+L to work on the levels, just drag the white arrow to the left as much as you need.

Thanks! And yeah, I love giving my characters a background. It's something that's second nature. I can't seem to make a character without giving them some kind of background.
lol, especially if I use them over and over. XD
I'll probably re-title this and place up more characters once i get them colored. I have a few I've wanted to scan in and color, but because I knew only how to erase the background (which I never liked doing), I didn't.
Thanks to you I can scan'em and color'em with ease! YAY!

Oh yeah, the coloring does look really nice. I like how you can still see the paper through it; it's a really neat effect. That's a really heavy backstory; you put a lot of thought into this. And wow, that machine looks uncomfortable...

Thanks BG! I liked the effect as well. It made it look more like I colored it on the paper instead of on the computer.
Characters I'll be putting up next:
Ruse and Angel / Ammit
Their backgrounds Ruse: She is an average 'C' student. Nothing special. The only subjects she is good in are English, and Art. She has only one friend and is one of the most made fun of students in her school. One day when she was walking home from school she found an injured cat. Strange thing about this cat is that it was this really light purple color, had wings, and a very strange mark on its head. When she went to pick it up, it opened its eyes, grinne,d and lept into her chest, changing her appearance.
Angel / Ammit: She is the cat that was found by Ruse. Her body was dieing and she needed a way to keep living. She foudn a way. She fused her body with Ruse and now she lives in Ruse's shadow (explination will be put up later). She calls herself Angel, but her real name is Ammit. Also, she has tricked Ruse into helping her collect the souls of others. She claims that evil spirits are out to kill her, when in reality, those spirits are the good guys and she is the evil one. She has control of Ruse's memories so she can make Ruse forget her true identity if ever she finds out. And one last thing... the cat form isn't her true form. She was just imprisoned in it so she could no longer use her powers forevil. That's why she acts through Ruse.
