((Sky--Yep, I saw her MV. It was awesome and the best Beer fan-vid I ever seen. She needs to make more! ;D))
All Mira wanted to do was flop into bed and not wake up till at least seven the next morning. But all those hopes and dreams came crashing down when she opened her door to hear her vid-phone ringing in the kitchen, two rooms over.
With a heavy sigh and a small prayer that it wasn't her father, Mira took off her gloves and threw them onto the couch befor hurrying for the phone.
Well, it was unanimous, the world hated her. When Mira swtiched on the phone her father's worried, stricken face entered the screen.
"Mira! Child what in the galaxy happened tonight?" With a surpressed groan Mira took a seat at the kitchen table.
"Nothing," If you didn't count the cataclysm of events that led to unclear feelings your commanding officer, that is. "Father, look I'm not really in the mood and I'd like to get some..."
"Now see here, daughter. I really don't care if you in the mood or not! How would you feel if you suddenly hear about your only child was involved in a life or death crisis? You would call them wouldn't you?"
Mira groaned, letting her head smack the table. Then it shot right back up again a moment later. "Wait, how did you know I was involved in a crisis?"
"The news of course." My dear, I do keep track of what's happening around the universe. I'm not that secluded."
Mira would have contridicted that if it were not for that simple statement. "It's on the NEWS?" Of course it was on the news! Why would her father being calling her in the first place? "That fast? I can see it being news in the MORNING but not this late at night!"
She was saying this to herself, but she wasn't using her indoor voice to prove so. "Mira, like I said time and time again I do not like you in this Space Ranger business. Tonight was another good example to why not!"
Her head snapped up to her father, her eyes wild with fire. "To tell you the truth father I wasn't even that much in the battle. And the only one in the life or death situation was Buzz!"
"Lightyear? The monkey's on his deathbed? They never mentioned that in the story."
Mira shook her head, not believing this. "He's not on his deathbed, not anymore anyways. I was just sent to get help and when I came back Buzz was suffering from hypothermia. The battle between then I wasn't in." She wouldn't mention the gun fighting in the beginning, though.
King Nova shook his head. "Well, I'm glad that's the case, but that still doesn't change the fact that you could have been injured. Or worse, in the same predicament as Lightyear is in now. Listen Mira," He said so gently that Mira had to look up at him. "I want you to think about your choises. Do you want to stay a space ranger forever and face all this? Or avoide it all and come back home?"
Before she could reply King Nova bid his farewell and signed off.
Mira didn't seem to have enough energy to sigh, moan, or rant under her breath. Right now was the time for sleep. So she gathered her body to her room and plopped into her bed. She didn't even care that she was still in uniform, she just went to sleep when her head reached the pillows.

((@cherry: YES, she does! <3 …Which reminds me… I have a Beer MV on YouTube, in case you’ve never seen it. )) Commander Nebula had pulled all-nighters before, waiting for his best Ranger to recover. It hadn’t happened in a long time, though… He sighed and rubbed at his eyes briefly before sipping from his fourth cup of coffee. Four cups of coffee at six in the morning wasn’t nearly enough to keep him going. Dr. Morton emerged from Buzz’s room and said, “Sir, I’d appreciate if you’d go in and talk some sense into him.” “Lightyear’s awake?” the Commander asked in surprise. “Yes,” the doctor nodded, “and he’s already wanting to leave.” The Commander shook his head – that was Buzz, all right. “Okay, doc – I’ll see what I can do.” “Thank you.” She held the door open for him to walk in, then closed it behind him. Still in bed was Star Command’s finest, looking patently bored – and a bit drowsy. Buzz’s face lit up, though, when he saw his Commander. “Good morning, sir,” he saluted. “Mornin’, Ranger – and at ease!” Buzz relaxed slightly back into the bed. “That’s better,” the Commander said gruffly. “What’s this I hear about you wanting to get out of here?” Buzz sighed. “Sir, it’s not like I was wounded or anything. I want to go back home and rest, and Dr. Morton says she wants to keep me here till noon!” “Forget it, Lightyear – you’re stayin’ put.” Buzz exhaled in a hiss. “Yes, sir.” Pause. “What happened with Zurg?” Commander Nebula frowned. “Disappeared again – man’s slipperier than a Bathyosian eel.” “Dang,” Buzz growled, frustrated. “If I hadn’t been so close to freezing, I could’ve had him!” “Yeah, I know,” the Commander sighed. “Chalk it up to another miss.” “We can’t keep letting him slip through forever!” Buzz protested. “We do our best, son, and that’s about all we can do,” the Commander countered. “Now get some sleep. I imagine your team will be back sooner or later to check in on you.” Buzz sighed wearily. “Yes, sir.”

(Sky--I have seen your Beer MV. And it was the coolest. XD)
It was near eight in the morning when Mira took off towards the hospital. She was dressed in her civilain clothes, as it was a huge mistake in falling asleep in her space ranger uniform. Mira shook her head, making a mental note to never do that again. She could still hardly move her neck and her back ached all over. Good thing she just got through talking with the Commander about taking the day off.
Now all she had to do was call Woody.
Right away someone picked up, but instead of Woody a pretty blonde answered.
"Hello,"
"Um hi, is Woody there?" Was that his wife? Oh what was her name? Bo! That was it.
"Yes. Let me guess, you must be Mira. Hold on I'll go get him." She said that cheerily, like she didn't even care that a strange woman was calling for her husband. Bet then again Woody probably informed his wife all about last night's mess with detail in everything that's happened.
Mira tried picturing the blonde staying up in the middle of the night, wondering what was taking her husband so long to come home. She just, for some strange reason, couldn't imagine her to be fast asleep while he was out there patroling the streets.
A familiar voice snapped her out of her thoughts as Woody came into view. "Ah Mira, good to see you're doin' alright. How's Lightyear holding up?"
Mira smiled. "He's perfectly fine, actually. I'm on my way to see him now. I just thought I'd catch you before you headed to work."
"Na, that's fine. I'm working the afternoon shifts this week so you caught me a pretty good time. A little early, through, from last nights escapades."
Mira had to agree with that. She was all but happy with getting up this morning, but with her aches and pains from last night still set tight in her shoulder's and Buzz waiting at the hospital she thought it was better now then never.
"So Lightyear's gonna make it? That's good news to hear. By the way, do you know what happened to that red guy and Zurg?"
Mira shook her head. She knew that Red went after Zurg for some strange reason, but other than that nothing. "There's no word about them yet, but it's still too early to say for sure."
"Okay then. Hey, if it's not too much trouble can I ask ya a favor? Do you think you can make it down the station? It's in the same area and the adress is 551 Waterview Lane."
"I don't see why not; but what for?"
"My boss heard about last night on the news and called me up this morning to see if I can get some of the rangers from last night in to talk about it. I'm not too sure about it myself but he said the detectives were interested about that 'Red' person. Saying he falls into another case they were following."
"I'll try. If not today I'll be sure to get there tomorrow. I just think now's not the time."
Woody whole-heartedly agreed. "I got ya'. Ok, you better have a good day with Lightyear then. Bye now."
Mira closed the panel and looked up when her bus stopped. Well, here she was at the hospital. Good thing she remembered the room number; she didn't want to deal with hospital staff this early in the morning. Making her way up she saw the Commander outside Buzz's door.
"Good monring Sir. How is he?"

((@cherry: D’aww, thanks! I loved making it! )) “Morning, Nova,” the Commander nodded. “He’s awake again… wanting to go home…” He shook his head and sipped from his sixth cup of coffee. “You’re welcome to go in and see him.”

Mira nodded instead of saluting. She wasn't on the clock and he kenw that already--she was really kinda expecting him to be back on Star Command but she should have known better than that.
Walking into the room, the only light being from the open window, she found Buzz wide awake.
"Hey Buzz, how are you?"

He had been bored out of his mind again until she walked in. Pfft, she might as well have been the sun rising after a long period of rainfall – that’s how glad he was to see her. “Mira!” Buzz smiled. “Morning! I’m, umm…” His smile faded a bit. “Well… bored more than anything, I guess. All I wanna do is go home and rest, and Dr. Morton is holding me prisoner here for another four hours!” He rested his chin on one hand, elbow propped on the bed, and did a perfect moping face. “How ‘bout you?”

"Well, at least it's not for the full day." She stated, taking a seat in the bedside chair. "I took the day off anyways. So you have me till you get out of here at least."
It wasn't like she had anything better to...oh wait, yeah she did. She could stay all morning but if what Woody said was important she would have to make her way down to the police station in Buzz's old town.
Craters. She really didn't feel like going all the way down there and being asked all kinds of questions all afternoon. About a person she hardly knew even! Mira should have told Woody that she didn't know how much help she could be, or at all, but he was by her side the whole night. A total stranger helping her at like he knew her all his life. She had to pay him back somehow.
"Uh, Buzz. Remember that Woody guy from last night? The cowboy? Well I called him this morning to tell him how you were and he kinda asked me, well his boss asked him to as me, to come down to the station so I can answer a few questions about last night. Apparently Red is being investigated by these detectives. Don't ask me why, but he seems to have caught their interest. Since you were around him more anything you can tell me?"
Okay, was she rambling again? Probably, since she said all that in one breath. Good going Nova, talk the guys ear's off why don't you? He just got up and now your talking nonstop? Well, he was bored after all, she just entertained him. Yeah, let's go with that.

Buzz grinned. “I think I can live with that, then.”
“Woody is local law-enforcement?” Buzz asked in surprise. “Huh.” He smirked a bit. “You know as much as I do, Ranger. Red’s… not an alien, he’s apparently a long way from home, he’s his home’s paranormal law-enforcement…” Buzz closed his eyes briefly, trying to run back through his head the scenes from the evening before. He opened his eyes and shook his head a bit. “I think that’s about all the facts we really know.” He shrugged slightly.

"Mmmmm." Warp groaned as woke out of his long awaited sleep and looked at his alarm. 2:00 am. Time to go. Okay so he'd snuck a couple extra hours in but at least he was awake now...sorta. Warp took extra care not to wake Erin as he rolled off the sofa and stumbled for his suit, grabbed some of the cold coffee that was still sitting around and headed out for a long night. He had "a score to settle" and the sooner he did, the better.

Mira smiled, pleasantly happy with that.
"Kinda," Mira said. "His job's not as exciting as ours is. But he still has the badge to prove so. I guess that all the more reason why he helped us out last night."
Mira sighed, leaning back in her seat a little more. Well, it was worth a try. She didn't think Buzz would know a whole lot more than she did about Red. Now that she thought about it, other than working for Zurg, Red was a total mystery.
That's when the light bulb went on overhead. Duh! The only reason the detectives wanted to ask he these questions was because Red was working for Zurg. All the more reason to investiage into him.
She smiled, happy with herself for figuring it out. "You know," She said to Buzz. "I think the only reason they're asing questions is because Red's working for Zurg. Maybe they're just trying to find out his background?"

Buzz nodded, then smirked. "I think that very few people in the universe have a job as exciting as ours."
"Maybe," he shrugged. "Although they must have a pretty wide jurisdiction if they're looking into what'll probably turn out to be a galactic, rather than local, case."
All thoughts of Zurg and Red aside, though... Buzz raked a hand through his hair and glanced down briefly before looking back up at his teammate. "Um, Mira? About last night... I'm sorry that our date was ruined. I mean, it was half my fault, and, um... I'm sorry."

Mira blinked. And blinked again. And for good measure, blinked once more.
Well, that was....a tiny bit unexpected. She never would have guessed that Buzz would end up apologizing for something inevitable. It wasn't his fault to begin with and he did an almost too natural thing by jumping out there to defeat Zurg and help someone out. It was his civil duty...and it was hers, just not usually out of uniform.
"Um...well Buzz thanks, but I don't think that's necessary. I mean, last night wasn't all your fault. It wouldn't be like you at all to just stand back and watch someone get hurt. It was the right thing to do to go out there and help. There's nothing to apologize for, really."
And unknowingly, she reached out to take his hand, squeezing it slightly.

Buzz shrugged slightly. Usually, he had an ego the size of Star Command, but when he was convinced that he was wrong about something, he was convinced. "I guess..."
He smiled at that and squeezed her hand back. "Maybe we can try again sometime this week? I mean, if you want to..."

Mira shook her head, not really understanding his sullen mood. "Buzz," she said softly. "I don't expect anything more than a hero out of that. And I'm perfectly fine with that...on some occasions."
Her body tingled, sendign shivers up her arm and throughout her body when he squeezed back. She didn't know why the sensation hit her all of a sudden, but it felt...nice.
"Sure, that would be great."

Yeah it was Vegas, yep there was plenty of activity as would be expected in a city that never slept and one would think that with all the people, private spacecraft and building that there would be enough eccess heat to chase away at least a little of the cold.
That was not the case. It was cold as cold ever was and Darkmatter's nearly frozen face was sending him that message loud and clear. He'd only been out for a little under an hour and already he glad for the extra layers he'd put on.
The barely lighted streets were nothing new to him as he stepped as quietly as possible through the accumulating snow-fall hoping not to attract any attention himself. But he was prepared just in case. He was, after all, heading for a place he knew to be one of Shiv's preferred hangouts. No telling what could happen.
He should be there tonight....soon if he isn't already. Warp grinned to himself. We've got a few issues to discuss. He felt unreasonably calm for the situation he was walking into but at least he knew why. Erin was "safe" and he had his Protection with him. With that in place, "all was right with the world".
