Mira cocked her head to the side, a light smile of her face. "Why not try now?" She coaxed, trying to ease him into the idea that talking about her mother might be a good thing.
**** Mira sighed in content, feeling satisfied with the kiss. The tingling sensation lingered on her lips long after she sat back in her seat again. Her eyes were still shut, but she knew that Buzz probably had the same goofy grin that she had.
"That helped," She sighed.
****
"When I have to deal with your seriousness on a daily basis," She joked.
"Now let's get your blood taken, k?"
****
He nodded. "Fine. The phones are down the hall past the receptionist desk and to the left."
The Doctor looked over Cora for a few more minutes, nodding to himself.
"I'm going to have a nurse here in an hour to prep her for surgery." He said almost to himself.
"Tell me, your majesty, but have you and your family been talking to her in her sleep?

“…Perhaps,” the King conceded quietly, absently stroking Cora’s hand.
*** “Good,” Buzz smiled back. Funny how kisses could do that to you.
*** Buzz nodded resignedly. “Yeah, yeah, okay, o… wait a sec, is that implying that I don’t have a sense of humor?!”
*** King Nova frowned slightly. “Yes, we were. Why do you ask?”

Mira's eyes sparkled slightly. "Really?" She asked.
****
"Just remind me to use that whenever you're stressed out." She giggled quite giddily. Boy, kissing makes he act more girlish than she would have liked.
**** Mira shrugged, "Only one days when you're overworking yourself. Which is a good 80% of the time."
****
The doctor smiled to the King's bizarre look. "Studies prove that talking to patients who are comatose helps along the healing process. It makes them more stable and at ease, willing them to wake up more or respond better to medication. Cora here seems to be doing better than she was last night."

“I didn’t say yes,” the King hedged, “I said perhaps.”
*** Buzz grinned, enjoying the sound of her giggle. It was nice. “Count on it.”
*** “Not true!” Buzz protested, opening the door to the right room and stepping in.
*** “I see,” King Nova murmured. And he was sure that Cora’s being half-Tangean helped, as well. He straightened and said, “Well, I suppose I had better make that call. Doctor, I shall see you later.”

Mira grunted, sliding a hand through her hair. "Same thing," She told him.
****
She smiled up at him, her eyes like crescent moons. "Maybe we should get some practice sessions in, you know, just in case a small peck won't do the trick?"
***
Mira gave him a look before he stepped in, one that said 'I beg to differ.'.
"Come on, Buzz. You're the most stressed out being I know. I'm surprised you don't suffer from high blood pressure."
**** The doctor nodded, holding the door open for the King. "And also, thank you for sending those blood samples out to us."
He closed the door behind him, smiling at how ignorant everyone was. Iron pole lodged into her lung? Blood transfusion? Pshh. Did these people honestly believed this young girl was the first one in the hospital to be a halfa?
He smiled bitterly as he leaned over Cora. "Restrict a few calcium deposits and fluids from a patient and you get a pale looking girl. Change the medication from pain killers to a non-lethal drug and you get a comatose patient."
Someone clapped behind him. He turned around and smile more broadly. "Anderson, good to see you."
The new man leaned against the opposite wall, grinning broadly. "Yes, well, I would say the same to you, but truth be told you've never been my favorite person."
"Yes well," The doctor grumbled, rubbing his chin lightly. "Anyways, preparations for the girls departure set and ready then?"
Anderson grinned broadly. "Yes, Wire has everything ready for the transfer. Everyone else occupied?"
The doctor nodded. "Good. Now help me secure our patient here from a comfortable transaction."
((Sorry for turning thing around Sky, but when one watches too much Doctor Who I wanted to throw in a little more pizazz into the mix. PM if you think it's too much.))

((*laughs* No, it’s fine. In good-humored teasing, though, you just love to pull this stuff on me out of the blue, don’t you? ;D))
“That’s what you’ve always thought, for some odd reason,” the King huffed, folding his arms. “Perhaps and yes are two very different words, dear.”
*** Buzz chuckled softly. “Incorrigible.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers once more.
*** “Hey, hey!” Buzz protested. “I refuse to be put on a stress-level higher than your father. Besides, I rarely suffer from stress.” The HYPER Death Ray episode was an isolated incident.
*** Buzz was feeling uneasy as the nurse was drawing more blood, and it had nothing to do with giving his blood away. Something was tripping off his quiet alarm system—he just didn’t know what. “Are we almost done?” he asked the nurse. “I need to check something.”

(( ;D I try not to, but when an idea comes, it comes. XD))
Mira shrugged, losing interest in the argument already. "Fine. But promise that one day when we visit you can tell us a story or two about mom?" She gave him a pleading look.
***
Mira smiled as his lips brushed hers, losing herself in the kiss. She brought her hand up to his face, cradling it under his jawline.
****
Mira snorted, stepping in behind him. "Yeah sure," She huffed, trying to catch her breath from her sudden laughter. "Believe what you want Buzz."
****
The nurse looked up, startled, as so did Mira. "Sorry sir, but it's standard procedure for you to lay down on the cot after we take blood. Could it wait for another twenty minutes?"
Mira felt uneasy too, especially now that Buzz was acting up.
Somewhere down the hall someone cut the light, dousing the hall of it light source, making the hallways as dark as night. And with the early morning and rainy weather no sunlight was entering through the windows either.
"Come on now, before the back-up generators start going. We need to get this girl out now."
Waiting by the loading docks doors, Wire moved impatiently as he waited for Anderson and the girl. He heard a sharp whistle as down the hall was nothing but darkness and a small light that was gradually getting closer.
"Do you have the girl?" He asked opening up the doors then the back of the van. Anderson gave him a thumbs up, throwing back the sheets to revel a very pale Cora.
"Don't worry, she'll be getting her color back soon. We just need to give her a bit of iron and calcium deposits and she'll be good as new. Now help me load her into the back here."

Oh, no, it was the puppy look. Arguments and tantrums, he could handle, but there was absolutely no safeguard against the puppy look. The King sighed. “Very well.”
*** Buzz moaned contentedly as Mira’s touch sent shivers down his spine. He pressed forward slightly, and something—a trigger in his mind—told him to stop before he was tempted to go too far. After a few moments, he gently pulled away and placed a kiss on her forehead, brushing her soft red hair back from her face.
*** Buzz growled and rolled his eyes. It was obvious he wasn’t going to win this one.
*** “Twen—five,” Buzz frowned, his lips compressing into a tight line. “I don’t care about standard procedure—this could be important.” He didn’t think they’d go so far as to force him to stay, but if they did and his niggling bad feeling turned out to be big, he would seriously consider suing the hospital.

Mira smiled gleefully, walking up and throwing her arms around his shoulders. "Thanks." She said, kissing his cheek. "Hear that, Cora? You get to hear all about your grandma soon."
**** Mira frowned when he pulled away. A bit confused, she looked up at him with a dull expression. "What? Did I do something wrong?" She didn't mind him kissing her forehead or doing little things, but pulling away so suddenly made her feel....like she did something wrong.
"Was I going to fast?"
**** Mira was about to speak to Buzz before the nurse did when the lights went out. Looking up at the ceiling with interest in what happened she felt one of the nurses leave her before she got the needle into her arm.
"Hold on a moment folks. The back-up generators will be going up..." There was a low hum and a flickering of lights as the generators started up. "Right now." The nurse smiled.
"Buzz," Mira said, her voice heavy. She felt it now too, that something was wrong. "Cora...."

The King sighed, accepting the inevitable and by all means enjoying the impulsive affection.
*** Blast it, he hadn’t meant to be so abrupt. “N-no, Mira, I…” Buzz blinked and shook his head, irritated with himself. “It’s not your fault.” Just me being weird—big surprise there.
*** “Yeah,” Buzz said grimly, standing. He carefully took the syringe out of his arm and slapped a bandage over the spot. “Keep a hold of that blood—I might need it later.”
He strode over to the door. “C’mon, Mira,” he said over his shoulder before leaving the room. The hallway looked normal, barring the lack of personnel milling around. He ran to Cora’s room, opened the door, and froze.
No. God, NO. Not Cora.
Time slipped back into motion. His heart was pounding rapidly, and he was trembling all over—whether from fear or anger, he didn’t know. A lockdown. The hospital needed to go into lockdown mode—difficult, no doubt, since hospitals just didn’t do that, but if the kidnapper was still in the building…

Mira sat back, away from Buzz, crossing her arms over her chest dejectedly. "Come on Buzz," She pleaded, but it came out sounding more like an annoyed snort than anything plea-full. "I know it's been a few months since we got together, but why do you have to be so darned embarrassed all the time?
"What are you going to do, sleep in separate beds during our honeymoon? We're not in the dark ages anymore Buzz, we can at least go a few steps further than we already. And don't give me that look, I like to do things traditionally too. But at least give me something here!"
****
Mira bumped into Buzz's back, stumbling over as she did so. Looking up for a hand that wasn't there she abruptly stood and pushed her way into the room.
Her heart stopped when she noticed the missing bed. She gulped when she noticed her jacket still in place on the bedside chair, knowing full well they were in the right room.
"Buzz," Mira warned, fearing he might lose it any moment now. They took one too many punches the past two days, they do not need to add a supposedly kidnapped child along with it.
"Maybe a doctor took her, or she's getting sterilized or..."She didn't believe half the stuff coming out her mouth either. Gripping her hands to her side she bolted out of the room and to the front desk where a nurse was waiting.
"Do you have any information if a Cora Lightyear went into surgery yet?"
The nurse looked up mildly surprised and held up a finger. "One moment while I check the records."
It took seconds to find the file, but it dragged out for the waiting parents.
The nurse shook her head, almost to herself before looking up to Mira.
"No, according to the records she should still be in her room. 542 down the hall to the..."
Mira slammed her hands onto the desk, distressing the nurse even more. Backing away from the supposed crazy woman, who was now beginning to shake, she called in a doctor.
Luckily it was not the same doctor that was taking care of Cora.
"What seems to be the problem here?"
"The problem here, sir." Mira said before the nurse had a chance to speak. She glared at Mira and Mira glared right back. "Is that currently my daughter, Cora Lightyear, is not in her designated room."
"Now slow down here, Miss. Take it easy, your daughter might have been transferred over to another room and..."
"We would have been notified first!" She all but screamed at him.
The doctor placed two hands on either shoulder, steadying her. "Are you her husband?" He asked Buzz.

“Hey, separate beds are for old black-and-white TV!” Buzz snapped back. He stood and shoved his hands into his jean pockets. “I’m sorry, Mira—I just don’t want to be tempted into going further. I mean—” he faltered slightly—“you’re, well, you’re a pretty darn attractive girl, and I, uh…” He reached up to rub the back of his neck. “Oh boy…”
*** Buzz was gone before Mira had finished stammering out theories. He found the nearest hospital personnel kiosk and logged in through a backdoor XR had once shown him—thank God for that little robot’s hacking skills. “Okay, let’s see what we’ve got here,” he muttered. It took a minute to figure out how to lock the building down, but he managed it. “Beat that, scum.”
He made a quick emergency call to Commander Nebula, then jogged back down the hallway towards the front desk and came up when a doctor began to talk with Mira. “Are you here husband?” the doctor asked Buzz.
“Yes,” Buzz said without hesitating, coming up behind Mira and taking her hand. “Buzz Lightyear, Space Ranger. And I’m sorry to mess around without permission, but I’ve just put this building into lockdown mode. I believe that our daughter has been kidnapped, and I’m taking no chances.” He planted his free fist on his hip. “I’m going to need to see your security vid feed, too.”

Mira blushed and felt somewhat awkward all of a sudden. She was tempted by the thoughts, but actually hearing Buzz almost confess to having the same feelings turned the volume up some.
"So," She began, finding the right words. "You don't trust yourself if we go any further?"
She looked into his eyes and gulped.
****
The doctor raised an eyebrow, looking between the two. "Frankly I wouldn't give a hoot who you were and would call security on you two so fast that your heads would spin."
She gently let go of Mira, who was now shaking slightly in his arms.
"But I do know mother's and their panics. So how's about we make a deal. You let me call the shots at the moment and I don't get your arrested; deal?
****
"You have got to be kidding me!" Wire yelled, kicking the loading docks door. They were yards away from getting out of here when these large titanium metal sealing suddenly screeched out and blocked all the exits.
Anderson sat in his seat, a delicate finger tapping his jaw ever so slightly. Unlike Wire he was not throwing a fit, just coming up with other possible escape routs.
"Guess we have to go with plan B then."
Wire looked up from his temper-tantrum, utterly confused. "Plan B? Plan B? Since when was there a plan B?"
Anderson smiled, a devious, lurker smile. "Since now. Still have those government explosives they deemed unsafe?

Buzz winced at her reaction. “Sorta. I’d just rather not find out, y’know? Better safe than sorry?” He sighed and moved forward, bending down and closing his lips over hers once more. After a few moments, he pulled back just enough to breathe, “Now that I don’t worry about.” His blue eyes sparkled slightly.
*** Buzz’s face hardened, though his hold on Mira remained gentle and comforting. “Here’s a deal for you: I appreciate your concern—” he nearly spat the word out—“but I’ve just called Commander Nebula of Star Command, and he’s authorized me to use whatever measures deemed necessary to catch our criminals. There’s a backup team of Rangers on their way here right now, and a team of detectives, as well.”
The temperature in his voice dropped noticeably. “So I repeat: I need to see your security vid feed.”
Captain Buzz Lightyear was not about to let anyone railroad him, especially with his daughter’s life at stake.

Mira was just about to respond when his rips touched hers again. She closed her eyes and kissed back. At least he was able to kiss her. To her, that's all that mattered.
"You don't have to worry about anything." She told him.
**** Mira squeezed Buzz's hand, feeling a knot form in her stomach.
The doctor looked at the two, sighing moments later. "Fine." He took a step behind the front desk, ignoring the nurse's argument over this being a bad idea, and took out the small disk from the security vids.
"This has everything from the past six hours."
Mira reached out and took the disk.
"Where can we view this at?" The Doctor pointed his shoulder down the hall.
"VID room, second door on the left....never-mind, just follow me. I'm far too interested in what's going on to let this be ignored.
****
Wire set the explosives up by the far end door. The truck and Anderson were a good two yards away from it on the other side of the parking bay.
"Hurry up Wire, we haven't all day!" Anderson said through the comm. Wire snorted on the other end, clearly annoyed.
"Do you know how delicate the situation is? Be lucky I'm even doing this willingly."
Anderson rolled his eyes. He leaned back in his seat, looking over into the back haul where the girl was. She was still zonked out, but with the frequent movements her body was making--twitching, shaking, so on and so forth--he figured it wouldn't be long before she woke up again.
The passenger door slammed suddenly, stirring Anderson from his little daydream.
"Becoming affectionate of her, are we?" Wire sneered, clicking his bent on. Anderson rolled his eyes again.
"We need her to meet the boy," He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. "We need to succeed in doing this."
Wire knew the orders of this certain operation. He knew it so well he could probably recite the whole profit like one would their ABC's. But he didn't say anything for fear that Anderson would smack his again.
"Then let's start the show then, shall we?" Wire offered the big red button to Anderson, who smiled gleefully as he pushed it.
Seconds later there was a loud bang, loud enough to crack the windows in the car and cause the two men to flinch. Even Cora in the back stirred, but, to Anderson's relief, didn't wake up.
The smock cleared and there lay daylight up ahead. With a wild yell Anderson stared the engine and took off towards it.
