((just for the sake of "keeping this alive".))
Warp pretended to find his terrible food very interesting as he listened to the exchange between his partners. He didn't dare look up for fear of bursting into laughter.
"Would you like some coffee, sir?" Warp offered getting up from his seat and heading for the coffee pot with his own cup. There now he could smile all he wanted.

Liz was only half-listening to all the banter around her, until a gruff voice suddenly broke her out of her reverie, causing her to look up in surprise. It didn’t help that everyone around her stood up at attention and saluted smartly a few seconds before either.
“Commander Nebula,” Liz repeated slowly, kind of liking the way the name rolled off her tongue. She shook his hand firmly. “You must be the one in charge around here.”

“How kind of you,” Buzz said dryly.
“I’d like that, Darkmatter, thanks,” the Commander affirmed.
“Yes, ma’am,” he nodded. “Somebody’s gotta keep track of these slackers.” He looked over Liz’s shoulder to give his star Ranger a barely-perceptible wink. One corner of Buzz’s mouth pulled back in acknowledgement.

"Not a problem, sir." Warp smiled, not bothering to look over his shoulder at the Commander as he filled both cups. "Here you are sir." He handed Commander Nebula his coffee and returned to his seat.

“You should see our agents,” Liz smirked at the commander, sitting down again. “Some of the worst slackers you’ll ever see.”
Not quite sure what to say or do now, she decided to go for small talk. “How long have you been in charge? You look like someone who’s got loads of experience.”

“Thanks,” the Commander nodded, accepting the cup and taking a sip.
Commander Nebula blinked. “Well… at least fifty years now… No cracks, XR.”
XR gave him a look of wide-eyed innocence. “I wasn’t going to—”
“You were—I know you.”

A sheepish expression, paired with a slightly embarrassed smirk, appeared on Warp's face as Liz described the agents that she knew. It wasn't surprising, not to him anyway. In his book, agent and slacker were more or less synonymous.

“Sooooo,” Liz said slowly, sampling some of her food. “What else do you rangers do besides maintain the peace and battle the Evil Emperor Zurg?”
She was probably repeating herself here, but hearing things from the man in charge might give her another perspective on the matter.

Commander Nebula and Captain Lightyear traded sardonic glances. “Other than catch the odd criminal? Not much,” Buzz smirked.
“But we’re here if people need us,” the Commander shrugged, studiously avoiding the significant look Erin was giving him.
XR noted the exchange—or rather, the lack of it—and turned a questioning look to Erin, who simply shook her head fractionally.

“So you’re the galaxy’s punching bags, essentially.” She leaned back to eye the Commander better but missed the furtive exchange between him and Erin. Probably just as well. “Sounds like home already.”
Her lips twisted into a sardonic smirk of her own. “So... besides you bringing me here for that, ah, matter we talked about previously... is there anything else I should know?”

Erin snorted a laugh, eliciting a brief glare from Buzz, which made her laugh out loud.
Commander Nebula stroked his mustache as he considered that. “Nothing that I can think of that Buzz or Erin wouldn’t think of…” Something clicked in the back of his head. “Oh, yeah.” He took something akin to a key-card from the chest compartment of his armor and handed it to Erin. “Ranger Frame…”
Erin took one glance at the card, then looked back up at her CO, her brown eyes almost perfectly round. “Sir…”
“Just in case you ever need to get in to show Liz anything,” the Commander interjected, “that’s your authorization. I expect you to be responsible with it.”
Her expression now very mature and very serious, Erin tucked the card somewhere behind the front flap of her uniform. “Yes, sir.”
Buzz shot his Commander a questioning look, and the older man clenched a fist, then let his ring finger jab out. Buzz nodded his understanding, looked contemplative for a moment, then dropped the solemn mood altogether. “Well, let’s get finished with this breakfast, people. Erin’s probably just dying to get Liz out of here so she can start tutoring.”
Erin cracked a grin at that, with just a touch of thoughtfulness beneath it. “You bet.”
“I’ll let you get to it, then,” the Commander nodded. “Frame, don’t talk our guest’s ear off.”
“Yes, sir,” Erin mumbled, blushing.

Her Cheshire grin in place, Cora sat back in her seat lazily. "Hey, I'm always kind. It's just no one seems to notice it."
"That's because no one can see over your personal charm, sweetie." Mira retorted back.
Cora frowned. Oh yeah. This was the Queen of Sarcasm. The person she learned every smart retort and then some from. Beating her in a verbal battle was like beating a boulder with a butter knife. Wasn't going to happen.
"And stop slouching like that." Sighing, Cora obeyed and sat up straight.
Mira smiled, turning to Buzz. "See, just put in a little parental authority and she behaves."

Buzz snorted, amused. “Dear, I think that’s because you’re the scarier of the two of us.”

Liz watched the exchange between Erin and the commander, the corner of her lips twitching in amusement as she listened to the rest of the banter and started to finish off her breakfast.
“So, what’s the first stop?” she asked Erin. She was kind of tired, because it had been close to midday when she had been snatched away from her time, but she was running on extra adrenaline now and was curious to see this new place.

Mira's eyes squinted into slits as she crossed her arms and looked sourly at her future husband. "Be any more sassy than you are now and I'll show you scary."
"Believe here, Dad. You don't know what this woman can do." And Cora sounded absolutely genuine when she said it, her eyes as big as the moon.
